I just broke in my motor and want to make sure my vtec is working. I dont have the vtec ecu or a knock sensor
how do i go around wiring my vetc to hook up?
on the sohc vtec sites they are hooked up to rpm activated boxes,
i was thinking of using my sport comp tach with the ext light
do I have to hook up my oil press sensor? if so how ? to what?

im in no hurry as I am not really intrested in having the vtec
hooked up.

in case you are wondering I wanted higher comp the cheap way
so on goes a vtec head w/ usdm type r pistons

are yoiu trying tosay that you want to set your shift light at about 5k and then hook the vtec solenoid wire to that? I have never heard of this. doesn't the shift light flash by sending a pulsing power source? if it does, then your vtec might engage and disengage rapidly and you would not be able to enjoy it.

thing. but i do have a pivot shift light that can be adjusted to
constant light. no pulsating

so do i have to hook up my oil pressure sensor?

What kind of VTEC head do you have? Anyways get a MSD activation switch as you stated or a VAFC even better since you can control fuel curves and amoung other things for tuning. As for oil pressure guage, you dont really need one but its a smart intrument to have. If you get a mechanical gauge connect a line (preferably cooper line because those plastic lines break easily) to the back of the block right next to the oil filter there should be a sensor. This stock sensor comes off and put a T- fitting reconnect the stock sensor and connect the cooper line to your oil pressure gauge.

i got a 90 crx hf lsvtec
running a chipped ls ecu, the chip on it burned already
so now I can only get it up to 6750

elite crx I am refering to the oil pressure sensor at the side of the head next to the water temp? and vtec sonoid

i would love to get those things but $$ issue.

i know there is a pressure sender in the back but that is already hooked up to the wiring harness (goes to dash light?)
but there is another one on the side next to the water temp one and the vtec solinoid

That's probably the VTEC oil switch your talking about. You need to have that wired as well if you want to be sure there is proper oil pressure before VTEC engages otherwise there may not be sufficient oil pressure and you could damage the valvetrain. Get a VTEC ECU like a PR3 it will work with your setup pretty well and you won't have to mess with the harness much then.

I was thinking of the fan switch

but do I still have to wire up the oil press sensor at the side of the head?

had a hook up to a chip pr3 but was sold before i got to it

i just want to experimet what the real potential of the engine is like
