Anyone have any experience with the Phantom Grip LSD conversion? I want a true LSD but just can't afford it. I'm gonna be putting in a new clutch soon and figured there wouldn't be a better time to put in the Phantom Grip. That is, if it is worth the money. Any opinions?

A true lsd llike Quaife is only a couple hundreds more and is a real LSD. Why be so impatient and wait for the better thing when it's just in reach?

The Phantom LSD is only good for drag racing really.

but those brands are very expensive!
That's what I'm saying. Can't you get a Phantom Grip for about $250? And $795 for a Quaife is a little more than a couple hundred. Believe me I would get a true LSD if I could afford it, but I probably can't. But thanks guys for the info on the Phantom Grip, doesn't sound like I'm gonna be wasting my money on that. Perhaps I'll get a Skunk2 intake manifold instead, two completely different mods I know......but same price range.....oh well. I'll keep doin' some research. Thanks again.

Is it true that you have to keep rebuilding the Kaaz after a while?
Yes cause it's a clutch type and the Quaife is a gear tyype.

Oh I see. So for the long run it would be better to get a Quaife. Are there any performance differnces between them? Would the gear type be better than the clutch type? I was thinking, when I have to change my clutch, of getting a Comptech flywheel and an ITR clutch. I might as well put in an LSD while I'm at it. Would the Quaife work well with this set up?

If I were you I would just go to acura and buy the type-r LSD. You know it's factory built to last long so no worries in the future. Plus it bolts right up to your tranny. Type-R and Si trannies are identical (gear ratios are identical) except the SI does not have the diff. Type-r's have been lauded as the best front wheel drive car in history and it's partly due to the helical diff.

Redsi, it's 50 bucks.....j/k

neways, I live hear in georgia and my friend works in the parts department at Honda so he can get this for you lower than what they sell it for. He's off this weekend so he said he'll check on Monday when you gets back. If you want I can buy it for you and ship it out (if the cost were less than if you just bought it at your local acura of course.) Plus a little money for my troubles. I post what it cost on monday

Do a search on MSN for phantome grip. There are many articles where people with first hand expearience have tested and used them with much sucsess. One person races SCCA for a living and says that he perfered the way the phantome grip performed over the many other LSD's he has tried. I personally have no expierience with them an have never heard anything bad except for stories which often get blown out of perportion or even fail to relize the real problem and just blame it on the last part they installed. I say do more reserch before you just abandone it. Because if you install it yourself and you dont have a 600hp car with stage 2000000000 clutch and 30" slick its well worth the 250
