I know the manual says every 30k or 24 months but how important is it to do at this interval? I'm just asking cause i really don't understand how the fluid lubricates a manual trans.

thanks

just change it. you can do it yourself or pay somewhere near $30 to have it done. and about every 20k or so. the manual says change your engine oil every 7500 too i bet.

I know of cars with over 200k that have NEVER had it changed. It is more important to do it in an automatic, than a standard. I did mine when I swapped motors it had over a 100k then. I really dont think it is as big a deal as say the motor oil, or antifreeze.

you could probably never change the air filter and the car would still run, 150k+ maybe..but would you trust that? ive pulled air filters out that are nearly that old.

they haunt my dreams.

on my civic i used to change it every 15k miles.
on the eclipse and galant i do it every 8k miles or so since it gets abused big time.
