Ya you read it right. I have a 1994 supra that runs an 11.51 in the quarter. Why you ask? Well i am not completely sure. I want a brand new car and i want a n/a car. That doesn't leave too many options that are affordable to me except a ram air trans am and the S2000. Of course i'll take the honda but the trans am is a very powerful car with lots of potential. I do need the help of you guys who own a S2000 to tell me what you like and what you don't like. You may think i am nuts but i am looking for a long term investment. My supra is awesome, but it is 8 years old and i want to try something different. So, give me some input please. Oh ya, if you know any one interested it'll be going for $30,000 and they could email me for all mod info.

as much as I LOVE THE S2K...theres not enough potential there to get as low as you are now...ID get a camaro SS if i were u,,they have a special edition model right now with 385hp stock..Id insurance wouldnt R A P E me id have one..normal SS runs a 12.9 stock...get a TT for it and DAMN...s2k is a beautifull car but its not a drag car....HONDAS ARENT DRAG CARS..
If you are also using this car as an investment then def go with the S2000. You'll lose a ton more money on any domestic in that price range. It wont have the power the supra has, but it has some potential and it is the king of NA. I dont think insurance would be any better on a camaro SS or a firehawk. Also, you'll get better gas milage. ......Basically i'm biased towards Hondas, and i dont like big muscle cars. Prefer the nimbleness of the S2000 and the convertible:cool:
Thanks for the opinions so far, but i need some input on the qualities of the S2000. What are the good and bad things about it?
9000RPM is right, there is no other choice to be made than to buy a Z06... SS is a good choice too, i love S2000's but their just not super-cars or exotics... what about a BMW M3, M-Roadster or M-Coupe
As far as quality, they are bulletproof. Honda technology and quality at its greatest. Very fun cars......gotta love the convertible. A little bumpy and somewhat cramped, but what would you expect from a race bred car. .... What price range are you looking at?? M3 is def better, Z06 is better, M-roadster is so-so (i just dont like the look)....but these cars are also a lot more money. Z06 is probably best choice for the money, but they also cost a lot more than a S2000.
wait for the evo....13.0 stock...under 30G's...outhandles porsche turbo
Well, the latest S2000s have lots of revisions, like strengthened gearbox (like it needs any more strengthening) glass defroster thing...
It's major shortcomings is bad gas mileage for a four-banger, and (From what I hear) little torque below VTEC, and bad long-distance comfort.

I'd recommend checking out BMWs. Even if it's not an M, the engines are still very good engines. A friend of mine has a 325 with only two options: CD player and tiptronic 5-speed. Even though it has non-sport suspension, it's still very sporty. 328s and 330s are even torquier, and faster.
I meant that the 328 and 330 were faster than the 325.

From anything other than an 8500+RPM clutch drop, the S2000 is not very fast. The lack of torque would make it feel uninspiring until VTEC kicks in, but though any person who can appreciate a car's quirks, can live with that.
0-60 times are always misleading. Too many cars are geared badly to hit 62 (100kph) in second gear becasuse of the popularity of this benchmark.

THerefore, how fast an S2000, or a BMW reaches 60, is not very relavent. If oyu built a car that went 0-58 in 6.6 seconds, and your best driver lost .5 seconds shifting into third at 50, your 0-60 time would come out to 7.1 seconds, but you'd theoretically be faster than a badly geared car made to meet the 0-60 benchmark.

I'd drive both of them back to back if I had the chance, and take it from there.
Not that the BMW isnt a nice car, but its in a different league than the S2000. Its more family oriented with luxury. I think this guy may be lookin for something more sporty and a little less common. I think the bimmer is sweet but i see too many of them and there are too many kids at my school driving them around. They arent that prestigious when you see a bunch driving around the road. If I were to choose between sellin my supra which is sweet as hell and buyin a bimmer (not M3) then i would have to keep my supra. I think someone looking to get into a new car after leaving their supra is looking for something fun and sporty. S2000 may not be the way to go, but i def think the BMW is an even lesser choice. ....just my opinion
A lot of you guys hit it on the head, especially 88 rex. If i part with the supra, i need something unique, like it is. The S2000 is unique and an engineering marval. However, it seems that it doesn't have the best mod potential. Do any of you owners out there know what mods are best?
turbo:D .....oh how i love the sound of a spooling turbo and blow off valve

If you stay NA then i think 9000RPM has it covered
bjmercer, I agree with the guys here.
Get yourself a CAMARO SS. Hella powerful car and made to last.

Honda S2000 DOES have potentional, but I think for the $ wise, you will be better off with a real muscle car such as the Camaro SS. Good luck.
are you guys high?

a camaro SS DOES NOT even come close to 12's stock.. NO WAY not even in your dreams..go look up the numbers from MOTOR TREND or CAR and DRIVER it's more like 13.3 AT BEST.. not to mention..the most important aspect of any sports car.. HANDLING>. dont' forget about handling people..the CAMARO SS..turns a 63 mph slalom and .9 g skidpad AT BEST.. on 17 inch tires.. the s2000 on smaller 16 inch tires turns a .92 g skidpad and nearly 70 mph slalom.. that numbers blow a camaro out of the water as far as handling is concerned..not to mention the S2000 is a roadster..and everybody that knows anything about roadsters knows that they don't handle as well as hard tops.. honda did an excellent job creating the s2000.. it's leagues ahead of the SS in terms of refinement, and handling.. and it's a joke to compare a camaros handling to that of an s2000

If you want a car that would go FAST straight line with potential and burn lota gas and also spend $$$$ on insurance get Z06 or RAM AIR

If you want a investment car that is fun to drive :D and if you want a CONVERTIBLE get the S2000
It's the best bang for bucks with proven HONDA quality.

Also S2000 is cheap to insure cuz it's 2.0 L 4 banger
(I pay $1000/year each for both 2000 colora and 2002 S2000)
Gas mileage is better than most BMWs or Boxters or V8 muscle cars.
S2000 also has enough torque for street driving.
As far as I know S2000 has the most torque for any 2.0L 4 banger import.

just my 2 cents
I used to have a 94 red TT and now I have a yellow 02 S2000 and for the power aspect there is not really a comparision the TT pulls you back like no other and mine ran a 12.28 so I can only imagine but the S2000 is a very fun car to drive and they are really starting to make a lot more shit for it and for those talking up the Camero SS I am only a car lenght behind one with it when the S2 was stock
also if you wanna sell your supra let me know I might be interested
I own a 325is!!! it does about 7.4 seconds 0- to 60.... (STICK OF COURSE)

NOt that quick if a car if you ask me but it keeps up with , RSX's, integra's, preludes, accords, etc....

I say go and check out a 98 or 99 E36 M3!! you will love it, i drove one about a month ago : 99 convertable , 39kmiles on it and it was going for 38k!!! I was overwhelmed!! i wish i had the money, i would have bought it right there and then!

S2000 is a great car if you are looking to buy something brand new!!! ;) In my opinion the S2k is the bang for the bucks! You only pay : $32k , and honda offers you with a 240hp motor, 6spd tranny, convertable soft top , availble in hard as well, etc etc.... i could go on and on!

Btw- M3's run 14.1 to 14.3's in the 1/4 mile.... STOCK! Once i even heard of a guy breaking very high 13's, but you have to be a good driver to do that.....

GOod luck on your quest, i hope you find somthing you like!
