Before I start, I did search, but I'm still kind of confused with some things..

I have a chance at buying a ported and polished Y8 head for mating to my SOHC ZC for a really good price.

1. I want to get it, but I hear the Y8 gives you a bit too much compression, so an adjustable cam gear is needed. Is this true?

2. Can I use a ZC/Y8 (aka A6/Y8) dizzy combo?

3. I hear the P28 ECU is best, but what are some alternatives, or would I want one?

4. Are there any parts that need swapping? Can I use my stock manifolds?

1. It's true..it gives you compression but you don't need an adjustable cam gear.

2. Yes

3. If it's going into obd0 you can also use stock a Stock CRX SI ECu (PM6) and use a VTEC controller or you can use a p28 and have to rewire everything.

4. The head, y8 head gasket, and timing belt. Everything else bolts on.

Most of those links are for Z6 head swaps, but thanks for all the info, that helps me a lot! I'll keep you guys posted once I get this stuff started.
