More Publishers Jump on Nintendo Bandwagon
By Tom Ivan

Sega, Namco Bandai and Capcom are the latest publishers to shift their focus to Nintendo platforms at the expense of Sony systems according to a new report.

The article illustrates that Sega and Namco Bandai have both doubled their Nintendo-bound software output during fiscal 2007 compared to the previous year. This is attributed to both the commercial success of Nintendo’s Wii and handheld DS and to relatively cheaper development costs for both. Similarly, Capcom is set to release a greater amount of games on Nintendo platforms than for Sony consoles during 2007.

The fact that the majority of Nintendo-bound titles are still heading to the handheld DS may be of some comfort to Sony as it attempts to build momentum with its next generation console. Nevertheless, the willingness shown by Sega, Namco Bandai and Capcom to embrace Nintendo’s current market dominance is illustrative of a wider enthusiasm shown by publishers and developers to jump on the Nintendo bandwagon.
