Hey everyone, I"m probably sure that my distributor in my 93 Civic Ex is shot....I'm looking into replacing it. i was wondering about buying one of those capacitive discharge ignitions like the MSD boxes or the Cranes. Was wondering if i should go that route or should i jsut buy a replacement distributor. i figure either will still cost me around 300 or so. Any ideas on what i should do? My car is totally stock. Thanks

Well the MSD set-up unless you work some where like Summit or Jegs who buys in bulk orders like 1000 at a time...you looking at about 450 for a MSD 6AL, Blaster 2 or 3 coil, Dist, wires, plugs.

As far as the Dist. going bad...I had a stock one for over 3 years never a problem. Then the B20 over a year no problem (18K on the motor now...heheh dumb $hit bought the CR-V and totaled it in one week)

if you car is stock, you don't need to go all out for an ignition. I would say just get base line, get the 6a, blast coil 1 or 2, cap, wires and plugs, i say it should cost you about
6a = $100
coil = $25
distrubitor cap = $20
wires = $30-60
plugs = $10

i got my ignition stuff for 150 will the harness and everything. just look around, go on ebay and get the stuff.
