Today I backed out from a parking lot and hit a parked SUV behind me (big one)! Nothing happened to the SUV but my bumper and trunk (driver side) are messed up! I need to bring my car to the body shop for an estimate! I probably get the 2001 sedan bumper and have it painted! Does the 01 bumper fit my 2000 Accord? Here are the pics:

Go to a mall parkin lot. Kick off your bumper. Disappear for a few hours in the mall. Call your insurance and say you got hit and run. You'll pay the $500 but you'll get a new bumper and it wont raise your rate cuz it was hit and run. ;)

Man that sucks. I feel for you man.

It really doesn't take that much force to mess up the bumpers. When I took off both bumpers to install my underbody spoiler it I was surprised to see that there really wasn't that much metal behind the bumper covers.

I had the same accident recently, because construction crew at my apartment complex left a big chunk of concrete in the driveway, cutting my available backing distance to 2/3 of its usual. The chunk of concrete was not visible from the driver's seat, even though I always turn my head around to back up. Repair at dealer = ~$620. The extra $120 is not worth insurance fraud, guys.

And of course the rear visibility of the current Accord sucks, especially compared to the last two generations. Especially in the Coupe.

Also I agree with the above assessments re: the weakness of the bumpers. I was hit from behind in my 92 Accord EX-R at about 30 miles an hour by a Lincoln Continental. My bumper was scratched but my muffler took out his front grill and his radiator fan!

Well, my Dad took my car to a shop and it would cost me $800 to fix the rear (bumper and trunk) and the front passenger side fender and bumper! That price includes a replacement bumper (OEM)! The shop will charge me $250 for the bumper but I could get it online for $200 + shipping! SHould I just go to the shop instead of buying the bumper seperately online? :dstar:

Iam not sure how the shops work in the US but in Canada, and if the shop is honest, they give you two options. (speaking from expereice) If they have to replace any bumpers (i think any oem part period) you can either have brand new parts or oem qualified used parts. The used parts are actually off cars that honda or icbc (government run insurance) claimed/owns.. so they are used but in perfect or near perfect conditions.. and when painted/installed they are perfect and will save you 200-300 cnd dollars. Just to let you know bachveit.
