N20 rule of thumb????

1734 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SqznVtec-e
I just got my kit so I'm anxious and a little nervous about putting it in. On another post I read as a rule of thumb I don't want to spray over half of my engines potential so no more than a 50 shot. True? No? I wanted to start off w/ the 75 shot? Bad idea? Mods below.

im almost positive your motor can handle a 75 shot, but id like to hear what everyone else says.
1) make sure your ignition timing is ok
2) always run good fuel
3) make sure your fogger gets good fuel pressure
4) If you accidently spray when your car is off, dont try to start it, your hood will get warped with the explosion and stuff like TB shafts get bent and more(unfortunetly I found out......) Pull the coil wire and crank it for 30+seconds and come back in about 2 hours to be safe.
5) healthy spark plugs are a plus

If you feel uncomfortable with the 75 shot just replace the fuel and no2 jets with smaller ones. As long as you get enough fuel and dont spray at low rpms you should be okay.
I'd start out with the 50 shot and work my way up. H22As can take a 75 shot safely and you have at least a half liter less displacement.

i know the unofficial nitrous expert of h-t didnt just say no2!!!!!!!!!!!
I am also assuming that when you said crank your engine for 30 seconds you meant crank it for like 10 seconds then let the starter rest and crank another 10 seconds and so on and so on. You know cranking you engine for more than 10 seconds is bad for your starter and battery right? Ok, cool.

Peace, lates
also, since HX is a LEAN burn engine should I worry? Should I get a VAFC first you think?
No way

I would say no more than 50 on a regular bases and then an occasional 70 here and there. I wouldnt trust the walls of the HX motor with that much pressure no matter how well tuned. I speak from experience too. I had a 95 1.6 Ex with a 70 wet kit, It ran like a bat out of hell for three wks, but then Kaboooom. It blew a hole in the side of the block and broke a rod. Checked the plugs and i was even running to the rich side. Its up to u though just thought that i would share my experience and throw m .02 cents
See ya, D

im been running a 60 shot for bout 2 months or so. 10 bottle went good bye already. seems good. i think on a sohcvtec its better to keep it at around 50-60
sorry, I figured saying something different other than NOS I was drunk............................

your car only runs lean under 2800rpms then vtec kicks in...you dont want to spray till 3k or 3500krpms anyway so its all good
