I was thinking about getting another dslr. I sold my Canon Xti a year ago, and I want to get back with a dslr, but dont want to spend too much. A friend is selling a brand new in box "0" clicks, Canon XS kit w/18-55 IS lens. He is giving me a price of $430 w/ a 4gb memory card. I was reading on the XS but unless I read wrong it is more of a downgrade from the Xti. Is this a good deal?

If you don't mind the camera is tiny, i say go for it. It is a great price, really cant go wrong. What are your plans with the camera? Its 489 new on amazon without a SD card, but those are cheap now.

I don't consider it a downgrade mainly because it can handle higher ISOs so in general, it should have better low light compensation compared to the older XTi even with the same sensor.
