I am scheming up plans for either a turbo H22/23 in a prelude or a B20 into a civic/integra maybe. I chose these engines out of all the honda engines becuase, as you know, they are closed deck.

I would build up a custom turbo system and run under 15 psi of boost no matter what. I would replace the pistons and rods with stronger units, along with the bolts.

*Now, would I it be a good idea to resleeve the block with ductile iron sleeves in any of these engines?

*Could I get away without resleeving and just boring the cylinders enough for new rings?

Thanks for your advice!

A B20 is an open deck design, I believe all Bseries motors are open deck design. Also I believe the nestest generation Prelude motors(H23) are also open deck, The gen before the lastest Prelude(99') were closed deck. Sleeving is not required if your staying under 15psi of boost and are boring .5mm - 1mm over. If you go over that then sleeving would be a must. You should also look into a good fuel management system(Power FC, Hondata, SpeedPro, Motec, etc.).

Yeah Matt was running up to 15 psi on a stock internal B16a. The man says it is all about tuning.

What rods and pistons are you gonna use ??
I'm using Eagle rods and SPR pistons.
Checkout the this site. www.theoldone.com/articles/expanded_pistons/
I dont have any experiance with them but I've heard that these rollerwave pistons are really good. Maybe ask around about them.

Resleeving is always a good idea, but depending on what compression you are gonna run and 15lbs or under; the stock block is fine. www.goldeneaglemfg.com/sleeves.htm

Ok, thanks for your help guys. I just want to have a nice solid motor that I can rely on. I spun a rod bearing on my H23 so after that I am really weary. I am pretty sure I will boost under 15 psi no matter what I do....but who knows...I've never boosted before.... I could get greedy!

*Is it essential that I re-bore if I am putting in new pistons...or does it just depend on the condition of the walls?

If I do go turbo, then I will get a Hondata basic boost ecu and big injectors, fuel pump and all the other essentails. I'm not sure what pistons/ rods I would get, but I am sure any of the big names would put out a good product.

*92-95 H22A1's and H23A1's are closed deck, at least both of my motors were

*96-01 H22A4's are open deck

I really did think that B20's were closed deck, but all the other B motors are open. Can anyone verify?

Thanks again
