Hi i just bought this 97 civic ex. I was wondering if i should stay with the stock motor or swap out my engine. Do you know which other motor would fit, and handle more power. If you have any info on this car or any mods you have in mind to make it fly let me know. Thanks

This is a reply I made a couple weeks ago to a fellow who had the same question.

Do you have an auto or manual?

Since you don't know much about Honda engines, I will give you some links that will help you learn more. You have alot of options and it may be a good idea to look at what other people have done to their civics and to choose what appeals to you most.

Here is someone with a 300hp D series Civic built on a budget:

Here is a list of other project cars from the same site. I enjoy reading these and if you have any interest in making your car go faster, then you will too.

A high compression D series. This shows what is involved in getting decent power from a D without a turbo.

A place that sells low mileage JDM motors. You can get any of the B series engines for half that price if you search the classifieds of automotive forums.
