1)what offset should i look for?
+45 - +50

I recommend something strong. Konig seems to bend the easiest.

3) what size (i was thinking 17's)?
17's are great! I would use 40 series tires

groupbuycenter.com generally has good buys on rims.

5)anything else you would add is appriciated
I would recommend getting a big name rim brand like racing hart, BBS, volks, rota, advan

6)where can i find wheel weights?

hey thanks for the help that was summed up damn well i just have one more question could someone please explain how offset effects the car like say i +40 instead of 45 or 50. I know wheels have different offsets and different cars are geared to one or the other but not sure how it effects the car. Oh and they also say like 17 x 7 or 17 x 17.5 which is the best to go with on those
thanks
ben
Offset is talking about where the wheel mounts to the hub.
Offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel to the surface that the hub will mount to. Offset away from the car is positive, towards the car is negative.

In this pic, the red line is the center of the wheel. The wheel mounts futher in to the hub. This would be positive offset.

Increasing the offset will move the rim closer to the centerline of the car, decreasing offset will move the wheel outward, away from the centerline of the car.

For a 92 I would reccomend a 17 X 7.5" wheel, meaning that the diameter is 17 inches and the width is 7.5 inches.

Lets FAQ this...
lookatme.. I'm not dissing on Rota or anything, but their an imitation company. Just seemed odd that you'd mention them with BBS, Volk, and Advan.

I'd say for good strong cast wheels that won't put you in 3 years of credit card debt, enkei's are pretty nice and they have a pretty huge selection. I think enkei also makes all the alloy rims for honda, if i'm correct.
I've decided to go with gunmetal Rota Subzeros on my black SH...what do you think would be better 17s or 18s? It's a daily driver and I have a mugen replica kit waiting to go on this summer. Thanks.
advan :) my fav rims maker :) as a matter of fact, theres a 5th gen prelude with some advan model 5 and it looks great :)

rota seem to make strong rims. doesn't mean they are bad since they are cheaper. and Honestly it doesn't matter if you get cast or forged. I know forged a stronger but they are more brittle....another advantage is they use less material to maintain the same strength as cast wheels...but again they are more fragile and tend to crack instead of bend or dent if you hit a huge pot hole on 18's.

I would go with 17's. 18's are pushing it and I would be afraid of bending cracking them at night in a part of town I have never been to...hitting on pot hole too fast could bend crack the rim pretty easy on 35 series tires. you could bet 18's and run 40 series tires but your speedy will run a bit slower than actual.
rims I like or would LOVE to have

size 17 x 7.5 +47 off set
tire 225/40/17

models racing hart M5 3 piece, Volk AV3, advan model 5

:)

Really?? I was planning on getting konig wheels cause I have them readily available to me. Do they really bend the easiest?
Thanks for the reply...I really don't want to mess up new rims around Dallas or up here in Denton where the roads are super crappy...so it looks like 17s are getting ordered.
hey thanks for the help guys right now i have been lookign at Enkei or the motegi racing MR7 in gun metal. I was wondering how much does the weight of the rim effect the performance. I know if you have more weight farther from the axel we have all those problems with different moments of inertia and can effect the peformance but i was wondering if any could tell me what happened or if the performance change from the when they got their wheels being a different weight than the stock
thanks
The consensus is that any wheel under +42 is not a real good idea for a Prelude that is lowered. This is especially true if you plan to use tires wider than stock and are lowered at all.
i would stay away from motegi MR7, they look cool like the Advan Model 7, Tenzo AV7 and Konig Tantrum.. but I checked some out over at Big O Tires and guess where they made from... CHINA.. thats right. No offense to those who have the wheels and love them, but I don't want no China made wheels on my ride. Then again so many makers in Taiwan make wheels so it's up to you. they're pretty light though.
It seems like the general feeling is +45 to +50 offset on 17's. What offset do you guys recommend for 18's?
Will 18" work ?

I am thinking of getting 18"s for my 98 lude SH. Will those fit ? they are low profile, my friend will sell em cheap. Came off mitsubishy diamante... I know its possible but are there any problems with it ?
