I'm in the process of installing clutch/flywheel in a 01 GSR. Do I need to remove the ball joints in order to remove the drive shafts? My acura servie manual says to do so but I don't have a ball joint remover and would like to skip if possible. Also, I believe the drive shafts just pop off then right?

the upper ball joint nut has to come off, once the upper control arm is seperate from the spindle you can rotate the spindle away and remove the axle from the wheel hub without messing with the bottom. once that is separate, the passenger side axle will come out by prying against the tranny housing on the inner cv joint (ball joint seperator works well). the drivers side you just unbolt the intermediate shaft and itll slide out.
