I wasn't sure if any of you saw this yet, but I heard about it when the board was down. This is a Nissan Maxima, and the guy who owned it left his heater on and I believe the tank was open as well.

I wouldn't go that far.. I'm almost positive that this was the result of someone being careless with thier setup. The guy left something on, and modified the setup so that it malfunctioned. It's just nice to know whats possible.

That can't be true, all that just from a nitrous bottle exploding. WoW? I am keeping that shit out of my car. I'm gonna go take it out right now. Even though is empty.

notrous is not flammable by itself therefore leaving the heater on could not have caused that
Of course it could. The heater might've malfunctioned and kept on heating the bottle. The pressure build up got so great that the bottle exploded. Or the valve blows off and the bottle shoots out in every direction.

From my recollection, it was an NX kit. What difference does that make? I'm not bashing on their kits, because they are quite nice as of late. However, their older bottles used higher pressure burst disks in them, so they wouldn't relieve pressure until it got higher. Also, they lift their bottle heater on. Their heaters are pressure operated. So if it wasn't sensing pressure from the bottle, hence the bottle's valve was not opened, the heater would just keep on heating. Finally...KABOOOM!!!!

Anyways, blame the idiot that did the installation, not the product that is well made. Sick of hearing people bitch when they are the ones that don't take the time to ensure that their wires are all neatly wrapped and their fuel lines are free from moving parts.

Within the last two months, two idiot's with nitrous setups have had their cars catch on fire in the Camarillo area. What they fail to mention when they bitch is that the wires they had from their neon under-carriage lights were not secured very well.

If they mounted their bottle in the trunk like most people do, then the bottle is right by the gas tank because that too tends to be near the trunk. When the bottle explodes, it'll cause many things to break a part, lost of metal pieces then collide, possibly causing sparks. If the bottle was full and exploded, then you can sure as hell bet that the trunk will get torn apart from that alone, and with it, the gas tank. The fumes in the gas tank is very flamable.

makes since thanks for not bein a dick about it like other ppl
Being a dick about things only makes it so that others are less willing to agree with you, whether you have a valid point or not.

Anyways, I'm just glad to be back on the board again.

Good to see everyone from before and the new faces. I wonder where Neouser and SDstreetracer is this time around.

good lord, looks like somebody blew it up to me... hey, doesn't the bottle warmer automatically turn itself off/on; it adjusts to the temperature correct...im not sure it adjust to the bottle pressure-wise.

so bascially, i need to remove the bottle warmer when the nitrous is not in use?

The NOS and I believe ZEX bottle warmers are temperature controlled to 85 degrees. The NX one, or their older one if they haven't upgraded the design yet, was pressure controlled.
