I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, and this lil Stereo place to get a remote start for my car....they said they don't wanna do it on a 5spd...i ask why and they were being dicks about it...."It can be done, but i won't do it" i ask why they go "i won't do it, just won't..." then shake his head....same as the other stores....bunch of shit eaters...anyone know where to get one done on a 5spd? and how much..

Well i ask the guys around why they couldn't do it....they said one time they were doing it to a porsche...someone left it in gear and the porcshe slammed into the wall and the axle broke some how..they had to pay a lot of damage so that's why from then on they never do it to a 5spd again...

Yeah, I used to work at a shop. They don't do remote start on manual transmissions because if you leave it in gear and remote start it the car can jump and hurt people or property.
We used to hook the system up but leave one wire off and let the customer connect it so he was responsable... hehe.

The reason indeed is one of safety. The start switch on the clutch pedal has to be bypassed. Would you want to be a store owner and have a liability lawsuit because some idiot left the car in gear, used his/her remote start and ran someone/something over? I didn't think so and that is a great reason why so many shops won't do it.

my friend got his remote start installed at best buy, he had an accord 5sp, but he also worked at best buy. all the shops here would install it in a 5sp. must just be in your area?

theres reasons for everything so u should stop being the dick i work in a shop and i don't and won't do it either, for one thing it is ilegal in new jersey dont know about other shops and they'res to much of a liabilty issue cause sooner or later your car is gonna be left in gear, wether it is u or one of your friends that did it.. what if theres someone in front of your car nad u remote start it and hits them--- most owners would go after the shop for doing it after they get sued by the person theyhit

actually i've heard about the one where it has to be in neutral for it to start...but the bastard charges me 250 for parts and 50 for labor....i'll pass on that....Best Buy's price is 120 for parts...and i think labor is included or it's like 40 bucks or something..
