I'm looking to "redo" my suspension setup, as well as getting some new rims/tires.

Right now, I've got the 15" Chrome Honda Optional Equipment rims on 205 60 tires. (heavy ass Chromes gotta go).

I'm looking at new springs (w/ 1.75" front, 1.50" rear drop), or coilovers (springs are hard to find for V6's).

I'm not looking to run LARGE rims....just probably some "light" 16's with 205 50 tires. Maybe even stock Honda rims (from an Si? or Lude?), but I'll probably go w/ some large offset (+48) aftermarket rims.

I like the look of the M3's new fenders. And I plan on rolling mine out (maybe not as far as the M3's though).

I also plan on running wheel spacers to widen the front and rear track (25mm & 15mm respectively).

I'm NOT running a bodykit....and don't plan on doing so. Just the factory front & rear lips, as well as the side skirts are color matched. So breaking a $500 fiberglass frontend isn't a concern.

Any opinions?

Anybody with experience with running large offset rims w/ wheel spacers and/or rolling fenders???

Thanks.

[this project is about 1 month away BTW]

For springs, take a look at H&R Sports, or Neuspeed Sports (if you want a softer ride).

For 16s you may need a wider tire than 205s, but since I don't know what is stock on the V6, I can't tell you what to get. Chances are that if you are running 205s right now without problems, then running 205s with 16s and the drop you want won't cause problems either (but I don't know if M3 fenders will reduce the size of the wheel wells)...

I want the car to run low and wide. But not "slammed"

If I run 205 60's with 16's, i don't think I'll have a problem with fender rubbing if I flare/roll the fenders (hence the reference to the *NEW* M3 fenders).

I want to try to correct some of the understeer but widening the track in front, and maybe running slimmer wheels in rear. But if I want to have the front and rear fenders "match", I'll still need to run some sort of wheel spacer.....either that, or run a tire with a smaller offset ~ +43.

Basically, I want the look of the new M3. :D

There are better ways to change steer characteristics than with wheel spacers. Even with the huge spacers you're going with, you're not going to change a great deal. Also remember you're going to need to find long enough wheel bolts.
The stock prelude wheel is 16"x6.5" I believe, and does run 205s, but personally, I think they are not wide enough.

I know I'll need longer wheel studs, so that's not a problem.

I'm still "thinking it through", and I may only use 12mm spacers (~1/2") on each front wheel, with none on the rear.

Unless I can find some really cheap 16inch (nice looking) stock Honda wheels at a wrecking-yard, I'm most likely going to get some used 16inchers.

I guess it all depends on what wheels I get, and what offset they have. I'd like to run a wheel with a polished lip, and I'll have the center powdercoated bronze (or silver). But that may be hard to get while looking for a large offset. I do NOT want the "tucked look", that I see people riding with (especially on Civic Si's). I want the wheel to be as even with the fender as possible (Like an M3's).

BTW, I saw Goldline springs for '94-'95 V6's that had a 2.5" front/2.25" rear drop. I'm guessing I'd need to run 17's with 50-series tires to keep my headlights at 22inches (hear in Cali, cops are dicks about that  )

Instead of trying to reduce understeer by sabotaging the rear traction, I would suggest a larger (stiffer) rear anti-roll bar...

I thought that having the front of the car *stiff*, allowing very little body roll, and haveing the rear *loose* w/ body roll....that would transfer weight to the outside rear corner of the car. Allowing the back-end to "swing" out more, tightening the corner in a FWD car.

I agree with junglistgsr and bampf. You want the rear stiff and the front a little "softer". The stiffer rear end will correct some understeer, if that's what you are looking for.

Well that's good, since I was planning on installing a DC Sports lower-tie bar anyway (just 'cuz they look so damn nice :D Polished BTW). I guess I'll just go ahead and find/make the fattest rear roll bar I can (30mm too large? hehe) as well as an upper strut tower bar.

I don't even plan on using a front tie bar, since there is very limited room to work with on the V6 engine bay.

Thanks for the replys.

BTW, It looks like I'm probably be getting some Acura CL rims, and I won't be doing the wheel spacers until I know exactly how much room I'll need/have after I do a big-brake swap with '91 NSX 2-piston calipers (painted red w/ the "NSX" lettering polished).
