NY State Liscense Plates

yes...the NY law requires you to have both the front and the back.
Well all three of my housemates took them off...never got caught... the police will say something about it when you get pulled over for something else maybe...

it's like that in texas too, it sucks

i took my front plate off like 3 months ago. i might have even lost it, i hope its in my car somwhere. well my hatch is stock so no1 pays attention to it anyway. one time i was smoking a blunt with my friends and around this turn there were these cops on bikes and traffic slowed down and we had to stop. well they were looking at us and i thought shit, they saw us smoking, but the light changed and i was out and when we drove by i heard them scream, LISCENCE PLATE! my friends and i then bursted out laughing.

I got a ticket for not having a front plate.

Yep, need a plate in the front and back. You can't put it on your windshield either...I've seen people do that and still ticketed.

The law is that nothing, not even glass should hinder the view of a license plate. If you put a plastic cover on it, then you will get a ticket. With these new stop-light cameras, the plastic can reflect light away, so it would cover yur tracks, so the cops will ticket for it.

i got a simple solution... on cruise nites... zip tie the plate to ur lower grille... ive never gotten heat for that... i got a neuspeed liscence plate hole cover... i love it.. it looks hot

maybe you lost it on the belt parkway....if you live in or around the city...i drive on the belt everyday and see mad license plates on the side of the parkway along with other various car parts scattered everywhere

i don't have any plates front or back and its legal

I did that once, and put the front license plate on my dash. Then I did a U-turn on a crowded highway and my license plate flew out the window. I stopped traffic in the middle of the highway to pick it up.

It was funny.

Where I live we don't need front license plates.

i havent used plates in a year..... condoms neither,
i think its all bullshit.....if a cop tries to give me a ticket for not having plates, i will give him a plate in his head


j/k......... ive got my front one off and om afraid im gonna get pulled, ive seen guys with the rear plate suctioned to the rear window, and i was looking at alot of VW's this past summer and the 2002 model gti does have holes for the front plate,.......... cant say for the other models though........... thats in ny, a dealer cant sell a car that doesnt have a plate mount if its illegal i would think
