pretty much... federal regulations such as these are going to kill the motorsports market in the near future. I mean, flat out kill it. What happens when all the old, classic stuff wears out? or gets wrecked? It's not like there's a huge plethora of 40 year old parts lyin around, you know? I mean, in thirty years, you're not really gonna be able to easily fix your 1992 civic or whatever the fuck. There just won't be parts around, and those that are will be expensive.

They've already got CAN-equipped vehicles (controlled area network) starting in 2003... why can't they just leave it at that? OBDII is pretty damn good at what it does now... I dont see the need for a next generation.
