OBX header SUX!!!!!!!!!!! (poor quality)

just go with the motto, you get what you pay for.
ok, thanks, your the 3rd person to say that...

hmm... check out my thread about the cl-s manifold, lemme know :)

here ya go i made it easy:

i know someone with the obx headers, the headers seems to be good quality. ss steel.

i've seen actual dyno charts from different people, all showed 10-15hp gains at redline, and good gains through out the rpms.

obx is basically using the same design as comptech, so the gains are about the same.

only crappy thing is obx is not carb legal, so cali peepz wont be able to use them....

shoot, im not in california so i think you just helped me make my decision. the people testing my car are pretty dumb, and i think the car will still pass emmissions just fine. so.... yeehaw im gettin some headers.

Do you have them? Everybody else who's actually seen them said they appeared to be good quality, and they come w/ a lifetime warranty anyway. I would agree that in general OBX products weren't the best quality, but these headers seem to be the exception.:)
i hope so, do we know if anyone from the board has ordered a set yet? the pictures ive seen they look very good, and really, since it comes with a lifetime warranty, there isnt much to worry about as far as them holding up. im just curious about the performance increases. 10-15hp would make me a happy man. :)
do a search on www.************* there are at least 3 guys I know of that have them installed- two with dynos. Both seem to be okay. I haven't posted this officially- but it seems like they both use the same type of SS....i saw an ad in SuperStreet of Comptech stating they use 304 stainless steel mandrel bent tubing...pg. 189 of SS for those who don't believe me. And the OBX site lists the same 304 SS tubing.

all have dynoed well and the product is lifetime warranty...but as people have stated- not CARB...so that's an issue for those Cali peeps.

There is also a big groupbuy for 'em over there too...$400 shipped...pretty good deal...i'm getting a set- no reason to spend triple to get Comptechs...(MSRP price that is)

If you wanna bash the headers- please read all the threads on AV6...and then proceed to www.acura-cl.com...and read those threads...and then judge. EricL or something on a-cl.com knows his stuff really well....But before you read it all...

QUIT BEING A JACKASS AND REPLYING WITH "OBX SUX YO....

I mean that just shows ignorance and laziness...

sounds good enough for me, all i need is another $100 and ill order a set :)
Ignore whatever pharcyde93 says, i've argued with him about something before, and since then i've tracked&checked his posts(damn **** stalker huh :D )......
realized that he knows nothing, but knows how to make stupid comments, being stupid, and lie about cars that he doesn't even have...

Well said Swerve. Check out the av6 forum, we had a huge thread about obx headers and *with actual obx distributors. :)
if peopel dont get headers now and dont live in cali, then they will never get headers
people complaining about the price but its like 400 buxs, cant beat that.

I live in Cali so no OBX headers for me. I think I might as well order it and see if I could pass my smog two years later. ;)

I thought we had 5 or 6 years before the first smog? those are a freaking killer deal if you ask me...

fuk all that smog shit. CA is so freaking tight about that shit. even if you get the CARB legal headers the cops will still give you tickets for it. i learned to ignor that along time ago, even if the carb thing is on there the cops still harrass you about it.

if your car is new smog is 5 years after you bought it. so its all good. but to think how some of these buckets i see on the street spewing black smoke pass smog.
but i think you will pass smog with the obx headers. i mean look, you pass with comptech and they are basically the same design are they not, how could one pass and the other fail. one is just certified and one is not.
exactly.
and last i heard, i think obx distributors said something about their concern with cali smog inspection. i think they are working on it. we just have to wait and see.
obx dont got the tiny little blue sticker that comptech does.

it wont pass visual inspection.

from what i heard from a obx distrubitor, they aren't even going to bother to get it carb legal....
Yeah, I really doubt OBX is ever going to get them CARB certified...that's one of the reasons they can afford to sell them for half Comptech's price. But like it was said, just because it's not certified doesn't mean it's going to fail emissions, it just means OBX didn't pay the money to get all the testing done.

Remember the visual inspection before the smog test could be done.
I rock these OBX headers on my lil D15B7 and dammit I'll tell ya... I got intake, and didn't FEEL much difference, but I'm sure I picked up like 2 hp on a dyno...when I installed the OBX header I could FEEL a difference on the acceleration...great SS header, and I don't need a dyno to tell me that! have fun with it bro!
