your sayin its WHITE, like WHITE WHITE?? cause if its _white_, then its coolant getting burned, which would be a bad gasket- head gasket more than likely. but, if its blueish at all then its oil, light blue dark blue whatever, oil.
check your coolant level to see if its gone down, that way you will be able to tell whats being burnt. check your oil level too is that going down too and getting dirty very quickly?
yah usually if it just does it from a dead stop its valve guides, but not always.
does it smoke when you first start your car up after its been chillin for a while? i would let it sit fora while and then start it up and rev on it, if it puffs out oil then some oils been dripping onto your cylinders.
do a compression test too.

there are many test u can do 2 see what it is, a leak down test will tell u if its bad guides, and a compression test will point more at bad rings.
dunno if you have what u need 2 do these tests, but if u dont there not 2 expencive 2 have done.
good luck i hate burning oil have dealt w/ it so many times, its emabrrising too.
