Outrunning the cops: What happens when you don't run

3193 Views 35 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  Sodikai
I figured it's time for a look at the other side, I would show my story, which is not running. Not only that, but the latest Sport Compact Car has a story on the BS (Bull. Shit) officer supposedly giving cops a bad name, but there's so many out there.....

First time was when I was going to pick up my friend and take him to a dental appointment. I was leaving my dads house, pulling through the residential street and came up to a main street and stopped at the stop sign. I was going to make a left, but there was too much traffic coming in both directions, to the left and to the right were loads of cars. So I waited for the moment when both lanes would be open so I could make a left (I had to cross two lanes to make that left). So I notice cars start moving in really slow packs....who do I see at the head of the pack? An officer, limitiing everyone to 5mph below speed limit, no one would be in front of them, always a cop leading. So I finally find wide gap in the cars coming from the east and start to make my turn and go west...just my luck, I pulled in front of a pack led by an officer, but he was still stuck in traffic. So I'm going west and look in my rearview...see a cop swerving in and out of traffic, figured he was in a rush, so when he gets behind me, I change lanes so he could keep cruising. Next thing i know he pulls behind me...well my turn was coming up so I changed lanes again to make a right, make the turn and he's behind me at a street light...doesn't turn on his lights, nothing..by then I was really getting upset, light turned green, I made my left turn...cop comes flying around the turn lights on and yells "pull into the next parkinglot" by then that was it. I just pulled a little bit into the entrance unbuckled my seatbelt and jumped out of the car and asked the cop what the fuck his problem was...he reaches for his gun and tells me to get back in the car. With my hands on the wheel in the car, he asks why I'm not wearing my seatbelt, don't have "corrective lenses", why I didn't stop at the stop sign, and why I was speeding in a 35. For those I answered "I did stop at the stop sign officer, if I hadn't I would wreck into the oncoming traffic" and the others , I wear contacts and had them on, I was in a 40mph zone for the speeding one. All this for a $5 fine for expired insurance card which is still valid two years after expiration date...by the way that's written at the bottom of the card IN CAPS AND BOLD LETTERS UNDERLINED. Dunno wtf his problem was.

2nd: I'm driving home from work late at night and an officer was just cruising up and down this road, doing U-turns like crazy. I pass underneath a bridge and traffic is moving pretty fast, I keep at 45 or 50, the zone is 45...this white celica turbo flies by me along with someone in an Odessy (dunno what that was about) and I see the cop come towards me on my left...and suddenly pull a U-turn through a grassy median and come in my direction from behind. I am in the turn lane and waiting...the light finally turns green I make my turn, cop pulls me over. Asks me why I was speeding in a 40 (cuz they can change the speed limit as they wish and say it was 40 according to law. BS!!!) I asked him how fast, he says 60, I asked to see the gun, wouldn't show it, says that on radar he doesn't have to show me anything. I tell him it's on the fla.org website that I can see the reading check calibration, etc. He then asks me if I want to go to jail because of something I read on a website. I told him I don't want to cause problems, I thought I had a right to do so. He tells me to get out of the car. I don't and continue to explain myself. Told the officer I won't cause any problems, just give me the ticket. Talked to my lawyer and he told me the officer cannot threaten to take me to jail on those terms. Waste of $75 to take the ticket to court, but it preserves my "privilege" to drive so it's worth it.

3rd: Got pulled over by a BSO (Bull Shit Officer) for racing on a highway. While we were pulled over, the officer had noticed that we weren't being too wreckless, my bud and I stopped when we were within 20-30 car lengths of traffic or any vehicles. Meanwhile his just turned BSO (thanks to George Bush) buddy starts yelling at him "Send them to jail and impound their cars!! That's Wreckless driving!!" then the cop asks me the usual Rhetorical cop questions. "What're you thinking?!" and keeps harrassing the hell out of my bud and I. Slandering us left and right. The cop giving the ticket was also being harrassed by this guy "send them to jail!! TAke their cars!! That's it for them!!" and actually told him to fuck off, which was pretty cool. He lightened the offence and I thanked the officer for pulling us over and being just in his decision.

Out of my 8 tickets, 2 have been legit and for a reason. All the others were just because the cop felt like giving them out. Because of my Import lifestyle. Because they hate imports. After this and reading the article in SCC, I begin to wonder: Stay? or Go, since you can avoid one officer and he's really not going to bother going after you unless he really wants to spill his coffee and doughnuts

Hey man,the first two would piss the hell out of me. You should have known better than to get out of your car though, did you get tickets for all the things he was accusing you of in that first story? Anyways, that fucking sucks, I was thinking of when I buy my car I think Im going to install a camera & microphone hidden looking at the driverside window, so if anything bullshit like that happens, I'll have proof of what he did or said.

I cut out an atricle in my local newspaper this week about a cop who pulled over a young driver and was actually taunting him to get out of the car and start a fight with him! after that he only got a 2 day suspension! what bullshit.
No, I didn't get ticketed for those reasons other than insurance being expired. What worries me is that they have power to say whatever they want and that is how it goes in court. I can understand your idea about the camera, I have thought it over several times too. Just dunno if I should bother because they will most likely harrass you more.
florida cops really do suck. I have gotten so many tickets in the past two months that it's nauseating. I think cops in S.FLa have nothing better to do than to bust our balls. And they do have a tendency to alter the law, dont they?
i have to say that is so true. 9 out of 10 policemen ive seen in florida so far are total assholes. just about 2 weeks ago i was pulling in to a party in the seminloe area with a friend...in a lightly modded(nothing exterior except jdm badges, trd grille) IS 300.
it was raining and we got permission from the party organizer to park in an area not open to the public. when we do so an officer approaches us and starts yelling instantly that we are violating the law in his "lot" or some shit like that. after all the fact that we pointed out and even got the owners to say that we had permission the officer coninued to harrass us. when we pretty much ingnored him while he was running the 20 mins woirth of background checks(u know..we were obviously foreigners and dangerous to his country) he got even more abusive and saying we were defying him...i just said we werent letting our night get ruined because of his unreasonable and injust actions. hahah...he said to the club owners that he didnt care who they were..they have to give him documents or some shit that allow any1 to park on thier own propert:rolleyes: haha basically by the time he rasied his voice to the wrong man he remined him that he was being employed for that situation by the event organizers and not the city...so he isnt to complete his duty...he was just to get off the property and he wasnt going to get paid.
the funny part is that after beinf reported by numerous persons....the officer to this date has not been repremanded. oh well i geuss thats how the law works. :D

the first week i came up with another guy with an IS, an officer decides to pull us over for speeding(40 in a 35 zone) i later learnt that u can go up to that speed in that zone depending on the time. hwowever at that time we were overtaken by 3 cars..a mustang, ram and an exploder. but the officer never decided to pull them over.
after deliberating with the officer a call was made to another person that my friend knows in the same department who spoke to this particualr officer adn they turned out to know each other. the officer ended up letting us off and later told us that he was required to gain a certain quota of tickets for that zone. he also said its easier to ticket a young person in a car like we were in as at is harder do defend ourselves in the ever equal courts.(in other words if we were 40 yrs old, feamle and in a bronco we would be fine)
but it goes to show many just do what they are told.
and i did meet a cool officer one time when i was lost and he gave us directions. very nice k9 officer:D

bs cops are everywhere...i'm from cali and my bro got a ticket for speeding, 45 in a 25....it was after school and he was taking me home, he saw the cops cause there were like 6 of them....so he pulls out onto the main street infront of the school and goes so cause he knew they were there....up ahead...a cop was sitting in the median and points at us to pull over...he says 45 in a 25 when my bro was doing 25, wouldn't show the gun or anything...then he starts saying shit about how his front plate was illegal cause it wasn't straight and some other shit....after all that, it cost my bro like 150 for the ticket and 100 for traffic school...
I am not a person to bag on cops because my good friends dad is a cop. However the one time i have had a wreck in my life was in florida. I was rear ended by a f350 ford truck. He was speeding in the rain towing sheetrock on a trialer without brakes. An accident occured in front of us so i slowed down rather quickly to avoid hitting one of the cars that was sliding out of the roadway from the accident. As soon as i accelerated to about 30 mph from 20 or so i was hit and pushed 300 ft through a ditch into a used car parking lot.

The county cops ruled the accident the truck drivers fault for towing a load too fast for conditions. But when the state trooper got there he harassed me and my friends because we were out of state and driving an import ( i had an integra at the time). The state trooper had jurisdiction of the wreck since it was on hwy 441 south of ocala and ruled it my fault for swerving in front of him and slaming on brakes......dont ask me how he came up with that. However i lost my car and insurance and the driver of the truck sued me. So FU*K a Florida Cop.

haha

of course cops are assholes!!! I would be an asshole too if some stupid fuck in a civic with rice exhaust and illegally low was speeding in a residential zone.. or even a highway with medium traffic. Fact is most people with lowered imports drive hella fast all the time.. it's gay....
I get pissed off at my job alot (I am a mental health worker for the state) but Cops get more attention because they are authority figures that can make a difference good or bad... so just chill and take it up the ass... cause you aint gonna do anything else about it... unless you wanna start a polical actions commity... then you can stop complaining :) :)
Best story I ever heard was of a good friends Dad. He works as a mechanic for exotic cars. Anyway, he was testing out one of the Lambo's or something and was causing a ruckus (sp?) in the streets. Cops started chasing after him, of course they couldn't really, and eventually found out the car was from the exotic shop. They saw him parking more exotic cars and saw the lambo. They asked him..."Were you just speeding up and down the street in that car?" as they pointed. He says "No, I wasn't, just parking cars in the warehouse for the night." The officers bitched about how they swore it was him, but the car didn't have a tag they didn't get a speed or any ID on the driver. My friends dad kept swearing up and down he wasn't running away from the cops. So they, all 5 of them, left all upset and bitching. A few years down the road, one of the cops that was at the scene came back up to him and asked again. he goes "I'm not in the force anymore, and besides, we won't place any charges on you if you admit it, but was that really you in the lambo that night?" His dad replies "No, officer, I was just putting the cars in the warehouse."

I know that in Seminole County the police presence is large, but the worst in my experience is the Altamonte Springs Police. They have a reputation for pulling you over for the smallest things. I had once talked to a car officer at work, and she had said that the Traffic Division Motorcycle Officers had a quota of 150 tickets each per month (I think the web site says they have 15 of those officers) and the regular patrol officers have a quota of 15-20 (forgot exactly how many) tickets each per month. The ASPD motorcycle officers have like 7 spots that you know are speed traps that get very active toward the end of the month! :) I am not going to lie, but I have not had the number of incidents that alot of people talk of, but I have had one experience of "Registration sticker being obstructed by license plate frame on the rear." The real reason was because I took a corner a little to fast coming out of the mall (I had not been there in a while, so I forgot how quick it turned) and the police officer was right next to me in traffic, eventually pulled in behind me then turned on the lights... I would not have had a problem if he had told the truth, because I admit to doing it, but the lie was to much. I asked to check for myself (the infraction), he said I do not have to worry about it. I said that I had a screwdriver in the back and I would take the frame off so that this would not happen again. He took offence to that, and then asked for the usual papers... In the end, the frame only touched the sticker by a few mm's. BTW, I unfortunately drive a stock 99 HB. Sorry for the length.

One more thing...Greatest feeling in the world...

Once I trapped a cop in traffic. He had to make a left turn, good thing CRX's are small, I fit right in a little hole in traffic, it was rush hour, cop was STUCK. Started to flash his lights a little too late, nowhere to go. One other time he was cruising up the street, looks at me and immediately turns his lights on...fortunately he was going the other direction, had to make a U-Turn....right then I said "fuck that, no tickets for me today" hauled ass through a left turn with NO traffic and pulled into a full parking lot, turned the lights off (because it was midnight), walked up to the store....just moments later, I hear sirens blaring and see the cop pass by on the main road. f*cking a$$hole! I'm taking Numbers down next time, reporting all those bitches.

I have had that experience, but this was a SCS who was tailgating (on the bumper - 1 to 2 ft away at 45MPH) other drivers (no lights flashing, etc) and passing in the center turn lane (5 lane roadway - no median center turn lane). When I got home I reported him to the SCS website, and the head guy called me up to say that he had no reports of a "emergency call" at that time, so he told me that he had reprimanded the Deputy. So, if that was the truth, Cool. I would not do that kind of thing for the usual (Turning on the lights to go through a red light) but this was excessive and went on for 3 or so miles.

don't run from cops.. it's bad *tisk tisk*

anyway.. yeah.. I got pulled over one time because I pulled out of a gas station right as a local cop was coming in...
"License and Registration please"
"sure... what's up?"
"You saw im pull in so you thought you'd just get outta there, eh?"
"um... no... I was done getting gas and left before you got there"
"then how did I see you?"
goes.. comes back with a ticket
"get these lights fixed.. I am also warning you about your exhaust and the hight of the headlights in the front. Also your tires are unsafe, at least in the rear"
"unsafe? what?" (they are DOT slicks)
"well.. ok.. what's wrong with my light?"
he hands my info back and asked me to sign the ticket and left.
He never messured the headlights, never took a reading for the exhaust and never used a specrum meter for the lights being too "blue"
but hey... my exhaust was illegal, my car was too low and my lights were too bright... I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.. I fixed everything he told me to.. and went to the Highway Patrol office to get the ticket signed off.... no hurt, no pain... put the shit back on and had fun... dunno why everyone complains soo much, I think it's funny.

This thread is getting some good content, anyone else have any stories?
Cops are fucking stupid up around here... we were at this party and then it was over a few noise complaints... the brought the firefighters to hose everyone down.. that didnt work it only riled everyone up.. so they brought in the riot squad in and started pepper spraying... everyone... talk about waste of tax money...they even sprayed they guys inside of his house just to be assholes... LOTS of damage

2nd thing... Me and my buddy were just looking for a street where we were supposed to meet some ppl... we thought we saw it and changed lanes to the left, realized it wasnt the right street so quickly changed back into the right lane (IN FRONT OF AND UNDER COVER COP)... well he pulled us over and said... THat was careless illegal lane change... b/c we didnt signal to get back into the right lane. The cop said he had to touch his brake. So tehn the cop goes on about the car...like "oh pretty nice car you got here.. i bet it handles real well... but i had to touch my brake and that is wreckless driving..." so we got a ticket.. for driving with undo care and attention.. or somthing... but the cop was being a prick so he appealed.. adn got it cut in half :)

About two or three weeks ago on a sunday night at about 3:30am my manager and I finished closing up and were leaving work. We stopped side by side at a red light. When the light turned green we both began to go, but my foot slipped off of the clutch pedal because the bottoms of my shoes were wet and this caused me to chirp 1st gear. Well, I didn't think anything of it so I passed my manager because I needed to get over into his lane. Keep in mind that I never went more than 3 miles over the 45mph speed limit. About a mile or 2 after I chirped the tires I got pulled over. The cop asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I said no because I didn't see him until way after the chirp. He said "oh, you wanna play that game?" I was like no... no... I swear. Well he ended up giving me a wreckless driving ticket for racing. The wierdest part was that he was being a read dick until he went back to his car and ran my info, then he came back and was being all buddy buddy with me. He told me that he would be sure and tell the judge that I was being polite and cooperative and that it would probably help me in court. It was strange.

Do any of you guys have any idea what cops have to go through on a daily basis? not to mention the risk that's inherent to the job. yes, it is their choice, but they do it so you don't have to get shot at every day just trying to get some gas or pick up a paper. I have gotten pulled over a few times, some cops have been dicks, some cool as hell. they get paid shit, and have to deal with punk kids with attitudes, so by the time they get around to you who was "doing nothing wrong" their patience has worn a little. get pissed if you want about what happens, but you really are getting pissed because you are getting caught. cops will never be %100 cool, because the people they have to deal with will never be %100 cool. don't give em flack, and your life will turn out easier. if one of them is really doing something out of line, deal with what's happening, then report them when it's said and done. no they aren't perfect, but arguing and jumping out of your car atomatically makes you wrong.

So in being that the officer is going through stress and I go through stress in my life too, maybe he should chill out some and stop harassing people because he doesn't like Hondas. It would make everyone's life easier.
well, I wasn't singling you out, but all I'm saying is to do that whole "taking a walk in someone else's shoes" thing. don't do sketchy shit, and they don't a reason to mess with you. if they do, treat them with with respect, and file a complaint after the incident. getting out of your car is just plain dumb. how is that cop gonna know if you got a piece or something? they have alot of responsibity inherent to the job, when you're driving, all you have to do is obey the laws, your day is way easier. stress is their job, recognize that. in a few years, as you get older, you will understand it more and more. out.
