This may sound stupid, but i am thinking about it. Please no flaming because I am going to ignore it.

Yes or no?
I don't know, i have this feeling that I want to paint them to match my car's color because the black somewhat annoys me sometimes. I saw an accord with all white side skirts or so called stock ground effects and it looked very clean.

What paint should I use? Will the local petboys or home depot have the paint i need to match my car's color? Won't the paint wear off or something? Anyone has done this?

Thanks for help.

1. take off all the stuff you want to paint

2. clean it

3. sand it down with 300-400 grit paper along with 1200 or so paper until super smooth.

4. clean so well you can eat off of it. (I used soap and water)

5. let it dry after you clean it...about 45 min to 1 hour.

6. wear a gas mask not if you want to be stupid.

7. get a couple cans of adhesive promotor (Bull Dog) from pep boys or an automotive store (NOT primer!) so the paint will stick. and spray VERY light coats. follow the instructions on the can. let it dry 5 minutes inbetween coats.

8. let the adhesive dry for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours then on to the paint.

9. do the same with the paint cans..I used "import color" by "plasti-kote" at pep boys..i used about 4 cans and sprayed on about 5 coats...again..LIGHT COATS!! follow the instructions on the CAN!!.. and dry 5 minutes until spray on next coat. Spray paint until satisfied.

10. let the paint dry for an hour...next buy the "plasti-kote" import color CLEAR COAT. I bought about 3 cans and spray on about 4 coats. Spray as many coats as you want..until you're satisfied..REMEMBER it's the same process as the adhesive and the paint...WAITING INBETWEEN COATS...

patients is the key to good lookin painted skirts...

I know how you feel Starchild; I have an LX with black skirts AND molding. :( I thought of having a body shop paint mine but the shops around my way will cost about $200+ to paint these. (My spoiler cost me $175 and it wasn't that great a job.) So I'm probably just going to get a pair of 98-00 Accord EX skirts from a salvage yard.

take it off through the inside of the door... you have to take the door panel off then undo the clips from the inside.

side molding held on with two bolts and some clips, NO glue, so its safe to take off. It looks better if you take off the moldings first, but you can also do it while on car, as long as you use alot of masking tape to take up areas you don't want to be painted. Looks oem and alot better(more lexury like) imo

Appreciate the help guys.
Glad to know other people are doing this, so I am not alone. hehe

Hmm, I will see how it will be when I take those mud flaps off. Having a shop do em for you would be pretty expensive I think but I am going to go today and ask for the painting price, and look at some subs and amps for my system....

:) THanks for the intruction on how to paint them. I may use em later on.

Accord freak.........how low is your drop with what springs??
on skunk2 with koni's....i was bored one day and i dropped my car at my friend's house... that's the skunk2s almost all the way down. with the koni shocks in the middle height setting..so i could go even lower if i wanted. i never drove out of the driveway like that...i usually have 2-3 fingers gap..that's probably like 4 inches lower

flaps are just two phillips screws towards the inside wheel well, that's it, and i painted the flaps too, but they have peeled in one spot and i had to touchup. Flaps flex, so too many coats will not work there.

damn it... i have a xenon kit and its that flexible material i guess... it snot rock hard like fiberglass or anything, i forget what its called... polyurethane i think... anyway i want to paint them myself, but now im wondering, will the paint come off bc my front lip scrapes every once in awile, and i dont know how even the skirts will hold up since they have some flex to them?....?

get a shop to mix up some paint and have them add plasticisers to it. It'll help it flex with the polyurethane and not chip. If you can't find a local shop, then you can order from www.paintscratch.com I got my paint from there and the match was perfect, allbeit a bit expensive.

I have a question.....can u paint the sideskirts without sanding them??...and if so would the paint look nice and flat?
certain types of paint would make it flat but it would be best if you sanded it. so it'll look nice and smooth.

a can of paint cost about 3 bucks
