I have a set of hx wheels on my car that have been painted before. I want to strip them down so I can polish them. Is there any stripper that I can use while the tires are still mounted without damaging the tires. I really dont want to dismount them to strip the wheels, thanks, steve

in order to do it right, they should come off. how are you going to paint it? with the wheels on? that would be a complete and utter waste of time as only the front would get painted. as far as stripping, sand paper, hand-held sander, sand blaster. there are some solvents that will remove it down to the metal i just can't remember the names. google.

u completely missed my question. My question was is there a stripper that I can use without damaging the tires?
