not true /\, if you look in my sig you'll notice my taffeta white sideskirts, they were custom painted, by me! many a friend has kicked them and the paint has stayed perfectly on the sideskirts.
they're not as glossy as the body of the car but they do just nicely.
here's what you need
VTEC destiny:
i bought "white", that the color, just white, dupli-color auto spray paint in a can from checker autoparts and some white sandable primer and some clear coat auto spray (also dupli-color)
first off, take off the sideskirts and wash them VERY well, then dry then, then sand them down to make them as smooth as a baby's behind (haha)
next, spray the sandable primer on them, a couple of coats each to make them all white, not much black should come through the primer, then sand it again IN BETWEEN THE COATS OF PRIMER!
let them dry then spray about 5 or 6 coats of white paint on them waiting like 20-25 min. in between each coat, then LOAD on the clear coat.
let them dry overnight, then install them back on. they're kinda hard to keep clean cause it's not a professional job but they look GREAT! and after like 5 or so months mine still look GREAT! here's what they'll look like after you do it (granted these are old pics but they still look like this

)
good luck
