Hi guys! It's been a long time since i came back here to look for info. Been out researching Subaru Stuff.....

but anyway..

What type of physics are involved in Honda's VTEC system? If you have some input, please provide a bit or if you have helpful sites, that'll be great.

BTW, i've been to HowStuffWorks already.....i understand how the camshaft works and all. I just want the PHYSICS behind it (VTEC/camshft).

Here it is, I think: when the engine reaches a certain RPM, a
vacuum solenoid forces the "cam followers" to jump to the
more "aggressive" Vtec lobe, which, basically, increases the
lift/duration of the valves, thus increasing the intake/exhaust
properties of the engine. But, I am a "layman", so don't sue
me if this "don't work for 'ya" .
