are all spark plugs and wires pretty much the same for B series motors or B series VTEC motors? my setup is listed below and my plugs are taking a dump. they're starting to make ticking noises so i decided to order MSD wires for the b18 vtec and denso plugs for b18c1. the thing is, i have a b16a head.. the WEIRD thing is, my ls plug wires are running my ls plugs on my b16 head. so i'm hoping they're all the same, 'cause the ticking is bothering me. vtec is failing to engage sometimes and i can smell the unburned gas when i mash on the throttle. :(

You really shouldn't have been running B18B plugs on a VTEC head... they have different gaps.

I'm not sure about compatibilities, just go to the autoparts store, look up the part #s for B18C1 and B16A spark plugs and see if they match.

And don't bother with aftermarket wires, they will do nothing but be less reliable on an N/A application.

they told me to gap my new plugs 52 thousandths or .052. does that sound right? also, the MSD wires are on the way, should i cancel and buy some stockies?

yeah that gap sounds about right. I think mine are .40 so on a vtec im sure it needs to be bigger. and msd wires are just as good if not better than stock.

I'm pretty sure that's right. I remember it's 1.3mm for the B18C, which equals 0.0512. If you can cancel the MSD wire order without hassling anybody, I would do it.
