Engine knock? or pinging....the ecu can automatically retard upto 9degrees when its pinging or whatnot.

I would describe what it sounds like but i forgot. I am not going to do it again though. I will check the oil level tommorow.

85 in 3rd? Prolly hit the rev limiter.

nope. its a dx so it hits at 97-100mph in third.

are u sure that its safe to top out at 97 in 3rd?? it's stick right? my 5spd EX tranny redlines at 80mph .. i don't think you should be doing that in 3rd, DX don't come w/ tachs either rite? ur probably redlining the hell out of it

Run them till they die, that is the way of things. I know it could harm it but it is fun. I have been doing it twice a week for the last 4,000 miles. I havent had problems until now. The oil was a tad bit low. Could that contribute to it?

The EX has shorter gearing than the dx/lx (both have same tranny) my 98 lx is supposed to do like 96 in third but i never get it up that high.

in my DX the max speed in third is 90....maybe you should start shifting a wee bit earlier?
