96 Civic Si (EX in the States) SOHC V-tec
I was thinking of getting this guy to turbo my engine for me that will boost 9 psi on my stock internals (for $1000 canadian). Hmmmmmm toast my engine or wha ? Whats the MAX I can boost with a custom or greddy turbo on stock internals on my SOHC. And what about the clutch, tranny, bottom end ?

And the car is and will reamin a daily driver, im never gonna boost more than 9 lbs - if that.

Thanks ! :D :D :D

read around... it all depends on the tuning, and most importantly, the turbo you have...

While this is kinda not what your doing, it still applies. Eaton superchargers are designed to work with your stock internals @ 8 psi.

Full_Clip loves the sound of a blow off valve.

ok, here's the scoop. GReddy FMU can still be effective of up to 8 psi boost.......at least that is what GReddy told me. keep an eye on that A/F ratio or EGT gauge. as far as the engine, i will not boost more than 8 psi on stock internals. if you do, find yourself a good tuner. 5-8 psi for a daily driven car is plenty of HP gain for SOHC. my recommendation to you is to keep it between 5-8 psi for a bit. trust me, any combination of I/H/E and cam gear will not top the power gain you'll get even with 5.5 psi, ESPECIALLY, with our little SOHC engine :)

my other suggestion, is for you to install the kit yourself. it is very easy. i can help you and so as my network of SOHC GReddy turboed friends........hmmm, come to think of it, one of 'em is from Canada......

Thanks guys, but hey....
First of all how much does the Greddy Kit cost (with intercooler)? and how come it doesnt have 96 civic EX on the application list eventhough I know some of u guys have it. and another thing, is it acually ILLEGAL to have a bolt on aftermarket turbo system in our cars ? and lastly, boosting 5-8 psi - I'll still be able to pass emissions wont I ?

Thanks :D

u can get the turbo kit for $1400 and FMIC type31 for $600. i would check e-bay or groupbuy if i were you to save some cash. as mentioned, the GReddy kit is street legal. leave the boost at 5.5 psi during the inspection. you can easily convert the kit to a 6th gen civic. there are a few of us here. install it yourself! review the instruction on this site:
www.turbocivic.net . it has everything u need, including wiring conversion for the FCU. if u need more details, hit me up.....
