question about cam gears

are cam gears really worth getting? right now i have i/h/e....
i heard that since i don't have vtec it won't work as well
so should i install cam gears?
which ones should i buy? skunk? aem? orthodox? and any other names that are worth while.
any suggestions would be appreciated
