How would the ride feel if I bought some coil-overs off ebay for $90-$120 or another brand for $120? I want to lower my car, but only for looks and not so much in performance. I don't want my ride to be bouncy as hell though. Thanx.

What are the spring rates for the coilovers? That will tell you what kind of ride you should expect.

Chances are that $120 for a complete set of coilover sleeves means you aren't getting very good sleeves...which also means that most probably they are going to have high spring rates, which will mean a bumpy ride, and if you don't get good shocks it will also mean a bouncy ride...

I recommend getting springs...I have skunk2 coilovers...they don't bounce or anything...but there is free play in the coilovers...like the body is just resting freely on my suspension and if I were to lift the car the spring can be moved up and down with my hand...making it easy to drop or raise the car but bad coming off inclines and needing to accelerate quick...cause the wheel will just sit in the air...while springs are always compressed and push the wheel back down to the ground.

That is one of the major problems that I have with coilover sleeves in general, as most of them have a lot of play in them just because of the way that they are designed.

yea I didn't know this till after I installed them on my car...I come up to take a right hand turn and the wheel is chilling in the air...I was like WTF:eek: then I finally got a little bit on the ground and starting screeching it a bit ...cause there is hardly ANY weight on the ground....then I finally took off. I like the coilovers for smooth surfaces but on the street they tend to not work as well as springs.

It's all about give and take. You give up some ride for a better look.
