i have a 00 Civic EX..(D16Y8) im thinking about getting a Greddy Turbo kit but they only make kits for the 92-95 civics (D16Z6). My question is are the blocks the same / similar that the kit will match up fine with my D16Y8 block? I have a DC 4-2-1 Header. I looked up the part number for it and it matches up with the 92-95 civic ex part number. So im guessing all should go smoothly right?

the manifold will work .. just replace the gasket and also you will need new piping for the IC if you have one... and the downpipe will need to be modified a bit....
Well it really depends if you decide to go with a bigger exhaust.. If i were you i would spend an extra $60 for a 3 inch pipe to the exhaust (i hope you have a Thermal or Apex N1 Turbo muffler) and you will notice how much faster the turbo will spool up... also a 3inch downpipe will help dramatically as well... good luck...if you have any questions keep posting...
my bad i didnt even answer the question.. i got a little side tracked.. well i think from the EG to the EK you have to slightly bend the downpipe a little more to the left.. although sometimes its just a perfect fit....
I know that Apex makes a 80mm inlet and a 60mm inlet.. Im not sure what the conversion is to inches.. but the 80mm is the turbo muffler.. ill look up the conversion right now and let you know..
Ok here it is...

80mm = 3.14 inches
60mm = 2.36 inches

so i think you have the Naturally aspirated muffler.. not to worry though.. just make sure you have 3" pipe all the way to the muffler without a cat....

If you really want an 80mm N1 i can get it for you cheap... You can actually sell your 60mm to someone i know looking for a 60mm and i can get you an 80mm for a good price...
Yea it will be fine infact it would just help if you took out the cat compeletly and you wont have to worry too much about 3" piping and a new muffler..
lol.. what do you mean inspection... You wont pass smog thats for sure... if you have the street legal greddy kit then keep the cat if you want to pass smog but if you have any other kit then you wont pass smog and get rid of the cat so you can actually get some power...ive never had a cop check under my car for a cat then again my car is low b/c of the bags so they cant see anyway...
no prob.. get cams and ligher flywheel that will also help with faster spool up..
for sure get a boost gauge and turbo timer... then the rest depends on how much you plan on boosting.. usually with higher amounts of boost you would end up upgrading the fuel system but for now your cool... although i would get an inline fuel pump for any turbo just to be safe.. also make sure you get colder plugs and some plug wires...
The benefit of turbo is that you can hold down the brake and hit the gas pedal to allow the turbo to spool up.. and also the lag is very little.. but again there are a lot more disadvantages such as downshifting and spool up at the instant of gear change.... my buddy turbo'd his ex and the first thing that went out was his tranny ... depends really on how hard you drive on it....I only wish they made stronger Auto trannies ... you can buy tranny kits but they cost near 1000 and you have to get someone to install them.. as for now you will just have to replace it when it breaks..
well it really depends on how often you boost and how hard you drive and the conditions... for 5-6psi i think it will hold up for a good while
