anyone know just what is involved in an accord head unit swap? i know about the wiring harness and what not.. just really need to know if Honda put in a theftlock like GM has.. and what is needed to pull the stock raio out..

my mom might be getting an '04/'05 accord.. unsure if hybrid or not

any help is appreciated

it's a 2000 accord 4 door..

anything on a theft lock device?

i dont think there is a theft lock device for the radio.
but once you unplug the radio youll need to enter the radio security code for it to work again.

no theft lock. to remove the head unit you simply take off the audio trim piece and there are 4 hex head screws holding the head unit in. the radio does have an anti-theft code that you have to enter in after the head unit has been disconnected from its power source if you want to ever use the factory head unit. but if you were to lose the code you could get it from your honda dealer, i'm sure people loose those things all the time. but i think you are talking about putting a new head unit back in? in that case you dont need the code unless you re-install the factory radio in the future.

look up www.installdr.com and it shows u step by step how to remove the trim and head unit. It's pretty simple dont be scared to yank on the trim a little bit to get the trim off. good luck!
