ahh man..thats shitty dude. but yes i do everything. i can garentee you if you come to my shop it will be cheaper then anywhere else..promiseSo this isn't my first time posting about my car being hit...I've been hit 4 or 5 times in the past year and a half (all the other times the car was parked--no one sees it!). This will probably be a bit lengthy though, there is a good story to go with it.
Friday night, I was having a fire in my backyard, I had just gotten out of work and made myself a drink. Didn't even finish my first drink by the time the cops came about a "noise complaint" even though there were only 8 of us (I usually have parties with 40-50 people at a time in my backyard with NO complaints). My neighbors are usually pretty decent and most of them have my number so if we do get loud they let me know.
I also know the cops pretty well and they never give us a hard time, they'd rather hang out by the fire with us than harass us, but work is work and orders must be followed; they told me to put out the fire and move it inside. So, we all decided that we'd go get something to eat at the deli my buddy works at a couple towns over. I took 2 passengers in the Prelude, and another of my friends took the rest.
On the way to get something to eat, I drove by a grammar/middle school where a 96ish Corolla was ripping around the parking lot, and then proceeded to burn out of the parking lot and follow me at about double my speed. He caught up to me in about 1/4 mile and rammed right into the back of my car! I slammed on the brakes and went to pull over, but he just went around me! At first I wouldn't let him pass, but I figured for both of our safety that I would let him do so, so I slowed to let him around, at which point he tried to outrun me...which is not really a feasible possibility...he took a right onto a side street and I would've continued pursuit but I got his license plate number, pulled over to the side of the road, and sat for a minute to relax and write his plate number down.
After a minute, we decided to continue to the deli to grab something to eat and cool off a bit...the other car full of people had gone a different direction towards the deli, so they had arrived several minutes before us and not even seen the events.
About 8 hours after the hit+run, I went with one of my passengers to the police station to file a report. When I gave the dispatch the license plate number I had written down, he said that vehicle had been involved in another accident later on that same morning...
The officer that came out to speak with my said they had run "my plate" at 4 am, and asked where my car was when they ran the plate. I said at home, I was in bed at 4 am. He thought I was the driver of the corolla! HAH...dumb.
Anyway, this kid with the Corolla was apparently VERY close to home, he was driving his parents' car at 20 years old at around 2:30 am, and ended up taking a turn too sharply too quickly after he hit me (probably when he tried outrunning me and I discontinued pursuit). He hit a couple of parked cars...when the cops showed up he refused to get out of his vehicle and had to be forcefully removed and then he was maced...he refused a breathalyzer, which in this state is an automatic revocation of a driver's license...this kid is screwed...he probably would've ended up a lot worse physically if he had stopped for me though...
but when I think about it...If it were me, and I had been drinking, and screwing around, driving my parents' car, and I rear-ended someone, I'd be like listen...I've been drinking and as long as you're ok let's take care of this in the morning--here's my information, my phone number, insurance etc., let's just deal with it later. But this kid couldn't have been 3 steps from sober...he is screwed now.
The prelude has seen better days...the rear bumper doesn't really look that bad, a lot of the impact I think was absorbed by the styrofoam. It did crack in the corner, and somehow the right rear quarterpanel got dented in.
kid is a stupid bastard
