have you tried to change your ground? Shorten the length of the ground wire if at all possible, this should help

What did you connect the negative wire to then? It has to go somewhere!asianpride559 said:umm thats the negative wire i didnt ground it to the car..since instructions didnt say so.
u have aim or msn??? it doesnt say to ground it...its supposed to run straight to negative terminal it says, do u have a remote opener?? i dont knoe why its hot like datBlackEG_Si said:What did you connect the negative wire to then? It has to go somewhere!
When you ground it, make sure its nice bare metal. Find a screw or something, and sand it a little.
NOS...the seller says i need a thermostat or some shitaalva said:I had a nx express opener installed on my car and it never got hot. Which one do you have, NOS, NX, ZEX?
so its probraly broken huh??the thing is i paid for it already so its kinda too late. all wiring is done correctly.aalva said:The opener you have is basically a large solenoid. When the solenoid is closed it should not be hot. When open you have a complete circuit which will dissipate heat through the outside housing especially if you drive around with the bottle open for long periods of time. If the opener is hot when closed something is very wrong (there should not be any power going through the circuit when closed). I would recommend you get the zex, or nx bottle opener they actually mount on top of the bottle and turn the knob from open to closed.
it does work but really hot. solenoid has 3 wires--2 to the switch and 1 to negative terminal. the switch has the 2 wires from the solenoid and 1 that goes to positive terminal.aalva said:I would say there is a short in the solenoid itself. Does it work? I will go ask one of our more experienced electrical engineers. Give me a minute.
i didnt get the switch they gave me i used a regular toggle switch.those red ones u buy from auto parts stores.aalva said:I am assuming the switch is a SPDT is it a fixed toggle or momentary toggle. (when you flip it does it stay in the on and off position or does it return to the neutral position when you release the switch)
ok ill check it thanksaalva said:Call Holley and find out what switch you should have. The solenoid may not be designed to run with constant power (which would be the case if you are using a fixed switch from an auto parts store) This may be your entire problem. If the design calls for a momentary rocker and your using a fixed switch then you are supplying power non stop instead of in short bursts to open and close. CHECK THIS FIRST
i found a momentary switch and a rocker switch. whats the difference? i notcie the rocker switch seems to be right one but thats the one im using because the momentary switch has 2 connectors i need three like the rocker switch. NOS told me i need their switch(momentary) to make it work. the bitch i bought it from says even if its broken which he says its not his fault cuz he has over 190 positive ratings and its all good. but i just email him and said you cant guarantee all electronics to be good because 1/100 might be bad.if its just the switch den i dont mind but i hope its not the openert then im fucked on 100 bucks. he says a new opener is 200 since i got it for 112 i should be grateful and not complain. wtf??? if its broken den its not even worth anything especially not 112 dollars.aalva said:Call Holley and find out what switch you should have.
