Just wondering if anyone has one of these on their car, or if they know much about them, I have met two people ever to have this, but it seemed like a useful tool. Has anyone heard of any problems with these, also what are some good brands that I could look into. I checked up on ebay and the highest price is $170 for a package with all sorts of wierd crap and it's an alarm too, and there is one for $15 that just starts the car. is this how cheap they should be? or is that crap quality?

Well I have a Design tech that I picekd up at kmart. It came with an instructinal video too. It starts the car, radio and ac/heat. Its a decent brand and I believe that Hifi-buys uses them. It was like 50 bucks and I did it myself havent had any probs.
i got a auto dial, paid like 100-150 bucks for it. it's alright, only work from half a block away only though...
This is one of those items where you don't want to shop bargin basement. I recomend going to a high quality audio shop and getting a viper. They have very long range and have features that work. I've had mine for like 6 years and in two cars now and have never had any problems.
I have a 93 Accord DX manual.....uhhhh...can i get a remote starter? and will it have a sensor or something which will NOT start the car if it's in gear?
hahah.. for those.. it is really easy to intercept the signal from your remote. My dad has one of those machines that steals the signals when they use it. ^_^
viper has rolling codes.
no shop would ever install a remote start on a manual. You'd have to do some ghetto rigging if you wanted a sensor.
can u use thim in manual cars?
Yes, there are some systems that work in manual cars, goto autotoys www.autotoys.com and look under remote starters. The manual ones are more expensive, but also almost always include an alarm.

there's is alarm with remote starts for manual cars too, no need relaysfor bypass the clutch. check out CMT TRADING they got some good alarm system there... i ordered like 3 or 4 sets from them already.... it's good quality...
I've had my Clifford RS2 alarm in for awhile now and it works great(plus paid $120 for it). If you truly want a good remote start system, don't go cheap.
