I currently have an '89 crx si with a ZC motor in it. I also have an STR block guard, STR fuel rail, B&M fuel pressure regulator, AEM CAI, and a DC Sport header on the ZC motor. I've come across the amazing deal of getting a whole '90 Integra LS for $500 (a good friend of mine is moving and needs to get rid of the wrecked car... And the car does run and drive).

My question is, do I want to buy the Integra, pull the motor, and then put that motor in mine and get rid of the ZC? The dilema I'm running into here is, if I don't put the B18a in my car, I can get some head work done to the ZC and small things done to my CRX (injectors, etc.) for the price of the B18a swap. Not to include the amount of time it would take for 3 motor removal/installations. If I do put the B18a in my car, I'm going to have to do over all the mods that I currently have completed with my ZC not including the hassle of the swap.
Any opinions on solving the problem would be greatly appreciated!!

I raced an LS crx when I had a ZC, it was even at low speeds but he handed me my ass on the highway, bad. The ZC is a tight engine, but when you upgrade to B series there are a lot of benefits. All of the B series trannies are tougher than the D series, You can buy solid polyeurathane mounts for a b series, the b series has much higher "possible" hp. You can get more power out of a B series before having to build it up. The b series tranny is a work of art compared to the slush box L3's(precision). Its a lot of initial time and money to switch from D to B series. It may seam like too much work for an engine with just a little bit more power, but it gives you an awesome platform to build on. And IMO the b series will handle extra power more reliably than the d series.

I love my ZC, but if I had a chance to buy a wrecked 90 intgera that runs, I would do the swap. The cool thng is that you have the tranny, the motor, the ecu, and the drive axles you will need for the swap. All you need is the motor mount kit, the harness adapter and some time. Plus when you are done, you can sell the parts of the 90 Integra that are good that you don't use on the Acura side of the forum (probably pay for the car in just a few weeks like that) and then if you want, sell your ZC engine. AS AK_CRX stated, it is a much better platform to build from. LIke I said before, I love my ZC setup (hey it was cheaper than most other conversions), but given the chance you have, I would do it...

I agree with the above comments, the reason I went for the ZC was because of the cost, I think the ZC is and can be made competitive with most B-series, however, the B series opens a whole new door with aftermarket parts and frankenstein possibilities that the ZC doesn't. Plus like said above you can probably recoup alot of your cost by selling the ZC, I think the LS motor right off the bat would allow you to run more nitrous than what you are doing now. Anyways just my .02 worth. Let us know what ya end up doing.

Do it if you can
It maybe be real similar for horsepower but more torque
TORQUE IS COOL!
I LIKE TORQUE
ITS MY FRIEND!

No doubt about it do the swap.
I will take the brakes off the teg.
The b18 has so many more possibilities.
Thats my 2 cents

Thanks for all the opinions. I'm running the numbers to see if I can afford everything. I've also wrote HCP Engineering and Place Racing to get some information on what I need to do (purchase) to get the swap done...

Actually, the Place Racing kit is okay. I have it on my B16A CRX. The mounts are made very well. And I have had no problems with the mounts themselves. There are only a couple of things I don't like about Place Racing. First, the mounts place the engine quite low. So the oil pan is quite vulnerable to damage from speed bumps, ramps into parking lots, and debris on the road. Because of this, I am much happier with the Hasport kit I have on my B20 Civic HB. The other problem with Place Racing is their service. If they don't have something in stock, it can take months to get it. On the other hand, I would NEVER touch anything from HCP.

The other problem with place is that they place the engine too far forward for any mods up there. Then they make their front crossmember to try and cover up for that, which I have not heard great things about, but it does a poor job. There still is little to no room for a 4-1 header, and no room for a turbo kit, with this I have heard people getting a smaller radiatior and moving it under the radiator support, just to try and squeeze a turbo in there. I have also had bad experiences with HCP, but their sec gen kit, the new kit seems like it's reasonable, still sounds like a headache for the front mount.

But to the initial topic, it sounds like you have a pretty good setup going with the ZC, unless you're really itching for something bigger, I would build the ZC some more. Pickup another car down the road for cheap and put the teg motor in it for a winter car. That's what I did, only reverse, B for summer, and ZC for winter.:)

By the way, Jackson Racing makes a supercharger kit for the ZC engine in the CRX. I found this out when I was looking for a supercharger for my Integra D16A1 engine, which they also make a kit for. I am planning on superchargering my ZC next year. Sounds like the ZC is the way to go due to the problems everybody else said they are having. At least with the ZC you get to keep your A/C (got mine charged up the other day and it works great - gets hot down here in the south.LOL)

if u do go ahead with the swap, i would recomend the hasport mounts, i am putting a b16 in my 4th gen hatch, and the mounts are great, the new ones are solid billet alum. poly.mounts, lifetime warranty, cant beat that, one thing ive heard of the hcp or one of them is that they use a silicon insert for there mounts, that gets mushy after a while. once again hasport, we ordered they said they had to make them, i still had them within 1 week, great service

he did mention that JR had a SUPERCHARGER available....not a turbo....superchargers are driven off the engine and thus have no lag....just usually can't get as much boost as a turbo...but definitely enough to get that ZC movin!
