Here are the pics (I'm at the end):

And the track:

Top section is the start/finish, right side was the front straight, right after that is the uphill essess, the lower hairpin is Oak Tree, and next is back straight, and then the rollercoaster.

Well I went down for the High Performance Driving School (HPDS) Friday morning. Left here at 8am and got into booming Danville at 2pm. Rested up and headed down to get my car teched around 5pm. I arrived 2 hours early and there was already a line of cars to be teched. Got to meet some people from my region who I didn't know were going to be there. Also met my instructor, who at the time didn't know was going to be my instructor.

Went to bed 10pm. Saturday was our first classroom session at 8am (bright ass early). Half of us if not all of us were asleep :) Our classroom instructor went over the basics of the track. Where to take lines, where to brake, gas, etc... Very nice guy.

Around 10am we all went out for a warm up lap with our assigned instructor. After the green flag dropped it was a free for all. Passing was only allowed on the straights with a hand signal from the car going to be passed. Getting the lines wasn't that bad but I was still trying to master them. My instructor would tell me to turn 2-3 seconds later than I felt comfortable with - so late that I would see grass and dirt when he wanted me to turn

I was prolly going 6/10th on sessions 1 and 2. I was really nervous my 1st time out - figuring that my car was my daily driver and my baby.

On session 3 I went about 8/10ths and actually made my instructor grab the "Oh $HIT" handle :) We came over the uphill esses and forgot to put the gas pedal in and we floated for about 1-2 seconds. My instructor leaned over and mention that I should keep the throttle on when going through those since I was in the triple digits going into them and we would eat grass :)

Got to meet Roger Foo, Grant Lockwood, and another person. Took lots of pictures :) Roger Foo is really short in real life but really friendly. I caught him at a bad time since he was about to go out on track for the Enduro race time trials.

Also got to meet alot of people from **********.com. Integra GSR, CRX Si, Civic H/B with a B18C1 and JRSC, Camero SS, and a guy with an Accord. Saturday night was a little social party and a GT3 tournament. But I was way exhausted to stick around.

Sunday was our next three sessions. And this time I was prolly goin 8/10ths to 9/10ths. I was finally getting my lines through the essess and hit 130mph on the back straight. What was really scary the whole weekend was the Ford Lightning coming up in your rear view mirror. I found out later that the driver is a gokart driver. His truck look like a 18 wheeler in my mirror. Also the Silver Audi S4 and 2002 Black BMW M3 blowing by you like I was standing still was crazy.

The whole weekend is still sitting in my head. Just in awe :)

awesome, ive seen some posts about VIR on SCCAforums and its looked great. Closest thing ill get this year is a Solo II event at Sebring, and maybe a Solo I at Roebling Road. Are you building an actual race car, or just having fun during track days with the daily driver?

Just taking the necessary steps to get my competition license. Although I did have fun - that back straight is almost 4000' long long enough to get up to my speed governor :)

I haven't found a 2nd car yet, but I'm in the process of finding a 5th Gen H/B, swap out the motor, add 4 point cage, change out the suspension, upgrade the brakes, but keep it daily driver.

Cool story, how well did that Peter Farrell RX-7 do?
Don't know. I was in the classroom sessions at times when the big boys were playing :)

4th back:) you DID pass those guys, didnt you?;)
I caught the Mustang in the esses, and the Dodge Stealth I just passed in that pic. But infront of me is the Audi S4 (biturbo), and behind me was the 2002 BMW M3. Both passed me like I was walking :) I caught the SER but the session ended before I did :)
