Need some help...

Just got a set of 5Zigen M-05's on my car and I am having problems with the rear tires rubbing. The rims are 17", 43mm offset (Standard for imperio rims) and the tires are 215-50-17 Falken.

It's not lowered but if you have a friend in the back and you go over a bump you get rubbing. I rolled the fenders a bit to help prevent, still rubs. But, I was wondering if you have heard of this setup having problems. 1010 tires and others I have taked to say it should work.

Any other suggestions to limit travel?

Maybe a new suspension?

Thanks, Burner...

WRONG OFFSET I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE 55 FOR 17S
55mm would help.. But I doubt I could find it. Most rims are in the 40mm range.. ie Konig tantrums 40mm, Motegi mr-7 45mm and other 5zigen are 43mm. Even when it gets to 18" the offset maybe goes to 45mm. If the offset gets too large you might have problems with the fronts rubbing

I can't believe this set-up has a problem.

Thanks for the reply.. :D

You don't have to paint anything you can try doing it urself with a bat.. what you are adjusting is the fender lip not the actual fender.. you can use a dremel tool to cut it out, you can use a bat and put it on top of the tire and push up this will push the lip up..There is a tool on tirerack.com you can rent which is made to roll fenders up. Id10t had gave a link and posted pictures of it a while back.

you didn't mention the rim width but if it is 7.5, then it's gonna rub some. but do tell us what you have...

you should check what the tire is rubbing first. just look around to see what if anything is scratched. the bumper tab is notorious for rubbing so you can trim that. the metal lip is harder but you should determine if it is actually rubbing. you can shave or roll the lip.

tirerack rents the haweka lip roller...you put a refundable deposit and pay for shipping from and back to TR.

yea, the offset depends on the width of the rim. My rear tires rubbed where the rear bumper met the rear panel, around where the screw is, you just need to shave that part of the bumper a little, from the inside
