Definitely. Too much fuel, not enough being combusted....

Same thing happened to my B16 because of a busted TPS. Too much fuel (was running rich as hell) and the distributor decided to take a shit on a 6hour drive to new york.....
thats y people with zcs and teg ecus fry their distributers left and right i hope the d15 doesnt fry the d16 dist on my car it runs rich most of teh time due to smaller displacement
geez....i hope my car isnt running too rich. i hope it last for another 6 months till i do more fuel upgrades with injectors and a s-afc

Ok...I think the main reason my zc is running rich right now because I'm running after market cams with the stock crx ECU until i get my chipped ECU back. Hopefully once i get my chipped ecu back it will even out a little bit. What are ways I can get it to run less rich?
well mikey ur only option now is a fpr but u dont want to lean it out to much lean is bad very bad

I think that's what I'll be getting saturday. I will hopefully have my chipped ECU back by friday, which will help lessen the richness, but the FPR was already on my list to get, but this will speed it up.
speakin of running rich, would big injectors cause it? also, will 90-91 integ injectors fit in the d16a6? thanks
well yes and yes. but teh teg injecters are the same. bigger injecters arent always better when used with a afc and tuned they can be great when used with forced induction.
.......so does anyone have any leads on 5sp zc ecus??????
I have a Teg ECU with my zc and I haven't blown one yet. I drive mine pretty hard too. (I just screwed myself and I'm gunna blow one tomorrow probally).
The Teg ECU doesn't burn up the distributors. It has the same voltage and ground outputs as the ZC ECU, the only diffrence is the fuel cutoff point and different fuel mapping - The Si is 7000 rpm, the ZC and Teg is 7500 rpm. Basically this is the rev limit built into the computer. What more than likely happens in these burnt out distributors is they are the ZC ones that have been sitting around a warehouse for a while, then they are fired up with weak ignition systems (like the oem coil and old cap and rotor) and fry the igniter. The first thing I did before I cranked up my motor was to replace the internal coil with an external MSD Blaster SS and MSD Modified Cap. No problem with ignition. It seems that half the people say the ditributors burn up due to the Teg ECU, and the other half have had no problems. Just my thoughts.....;)
See it's nothing really to do with the voltage, etc..... I'm pretty sure the excess fuel is the culprit. I mean, it can't be a coincidence that I know a few people that have gone through 3,4,5 or MORE distributors with a teg ECU. I dunno...... I never hear ANY problems with a ZC ECU in there.... ever.
Yeah, but look at the number of people who are running the Teg ECU versus us who are running the ZC? Much fewer people using the ZC ECU.....

Chris
hmm......... good point, but I never hear anything about guys with the SI ECU burning up distributors
i used the 89 integra ecu on my d15 with a broken tps for a good 6 months now. no probs at all. the air to fuel gage is always rich unless the motor gets hot then it's off the charts lean. i dont think the 2 have nething to do with each other. longest drive was about 4 hours. piece.
u shouldnt be running it on a broken tps and it be fine. ur gonna kill ur motor running tha ecu get the si if ur running the mpfi its rich but its mostly stoiche. i use teh pm6 from a 91 si and it nice. not finished with the motor yet though gotta do a secret project on tuesday hopefully it will be done till its tossed aside for my b18.
as for the dist problems check it this way. if ur spark plugs become covered with crap from running rich there is more resistance for the distributers colil to push. more resistance means less life for the distributer. thats how i see it and same with ur o2 sensors rich turn black and die.
i have a d16a6 and i am running rich.. .anyone know any problems that i might have? i think i am runnin 2x rich
How do you know you are running rich? Why do you think you are running 2x rich??!?! What mods do you have...

Chris
I know i am running rich because i can't pass smog... and it is 2x the limit. no internal mods on the engine... know what can be wrong?
