instead of taking them out is it possible and smarter to just but a bunch of holes in it to lighten it instead, like cam gears....Im worried insurance would kill me if i didnt have any supports at all and my bumpers might sag

I've seen drag racers cut holes in the aluminum and steel in their cars to lighten the load, so I think it can be done. You could possibly cut out holes on each of the 4 sides, which should be good for 20 or so pounds.

how does it mess up your handling? im not thinking of doing it but i feel like less weight means better handling...i guess it must add stiffness to the frame?

the bar kinda act as a strut bar or some sort...you are losening up the body of the car when u remove it...i don't know exactly what happens but i notice more body roll than before..

i wouldn't do it, you'd probably still get screwed if somebody hits you, they'd prolly inspect them and see that theyre are holes cut in them. drag racers do it because they don't really have insurance, and insurance most likely wouldn't pay if you total your car on a drag strip.

the closer you get to having 50/50 weight distribution, the better your handling will be... by pulling your rear bumper support, you are making your car more nose heavy, sort of like an h22 in a civic...
