There is a used supercharged b16a2 for $3500, I am thinking about buying it but am worried about the risk of it not being reliable. Anyone have experience with this?

JRSC'd engines are very reliable and pretty easy on the engine at 6psi as long as it was tuned correctly. i would have a compression and leak down test done and if all is goood in those tests buy it.
superchargers are reliable. bad tuning is not.

now, like any other used car, you need to get info on the car. mileage on car? mileage on supercharger? all the basic stuff. The charger has a 100,000mile warranty, so it should last a while. however, dont buy it and think if it breaks down, you can get it replaced. Moss Motors is gay like that.

you also want to look at every other mod on that car. report back with what you got and maybe someone can help ya!

Hey thanks,

If the engine was ran hard (which it prob was) should I worry about internal damage? Which supercharger has a 100,000m warranty?

JRSC:D
I've ran mine hard and everything seems to be fine. Internal damage on a JRSC'd application is rare. I have never heard of it. If there is damage, a compression check would show it.
Tomorrow im going to ask the dude selling it some questions, I was told that if he never had a new fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator than the engine would of been running lean...I dont know much bout superchargers:( . I have the choice of buying this used supercharged b16 or a jspec b18c1, right now the shop that I am ordering from "can't " find a b18c1 and this engine popped up.
the JRSC kit comes with a JR FPR and that should run his motor pretty safe as long as the timing was retarded a bit.

if you can i would recomend getting the JDM B18c1 (GSR) motor and do all the mods you want instead of someones leftover project.

Thats true, but Im on a tight budget and want the most I can get.
I ordered a jspec b18c1 swap a month and a half ago, the shop i ordered from is saying they cant find one these days, so they are offering me this for a couple hundred more

Get the info and report back here... if we all think it's good, go ahead and get it. When you've got boost, you typically always run the engine hard, but it's nothing a B16 can't handle, particularly with a JRSC. If it were a turbo, I'd be more inclined to say no.
alright, the engine has 40k miles, the supercharger has 25k on it. It is a JRSC, the thing im worried bout is that it has a 10lb pulley on it.
whoops nevermind, i got mixed up thinkin it was 10psi.
10 lbs, 10 PSI, same thing... pounds per square inch. With 10 PSI, at least you would probably never have to upgrade it anymore, unless JR actuqally came out with an intercooler sometime in the near future (very doubtful). 40K +25K isn't too bad... What's the asking price? I'd assume it would be no more than say $3500.00 Anything more then that and I'd start questioning the value of it. Also, before you buy it, see if you can have a compression and leakdown test done on it, as well as taking just the blower off and lookiing at the blades inside... do they move freely? Are they still coated with their enamel, or are parts of it chipping away? As long as all the enamel is there and you can spin the blower by hand without any friction, then it should be fine.
what would be needed to make a b16 w/10psi run well, i didnt get the list of all the mods he has yet.
hmm... talk to 99sivtec... he has a B16 at 10 PSI.
