Look at it from Honda's point of view: cheap to build, the factories are already tooled up for it, at they look descent.

Speaking of them selling performance tuneup parts: why not cash in? There's a huge market for it.

I'm not trying to doubt you or anything, but are you sure this 'select' owner just didn't buy them?

I was in a Honda Dealership about a week ago in Tacoma and saw a new 2002 Civic LX(?) with SI rims, fake c/f, altezzas, and those M3 mirrors with the turn signals in them, from the dealership! I think its weak what they are doing with the rims, but at least you'll have a spare!

When I got my car I really wanted the stock honda five star momos, but I guess that the ones that came on the car were fine. Anyway weren't they suppose to be special edition wheels on the 99-00 SI. That sucks that they come on the new Civics.

Did you miss the word "dealer" in my sentence? Cause I sure didn't, and I don't think all these replies did either...read carefully next time.

actually i was thinking the same thing Kane was, i mean the rims are optional for regular civics... and since they're now using 15" wheel covers, our rims would fit them just fine. dealerships can swap their stuff around... even if u saw it on the lot for sale. i saw a dealership with a blue Si that had a low (regular civic) rear wing. does that mean Honda is trying to rip off Si buyers? i've seen EX civics with the mid wing (si) also... and this was before that "sports package" came out for 2002.

Cost from dealer......

I've seen this too. The dealership I bought my Si from has a 2002 Civic EX with ground effects, custom leather int. and Si wheels. Total cost was about $23000. The ground effects were $1600 and the wheels were $1350. Doesnt sound like our rims are really worth any less than before.

I say, if your rims are in good shape and you wanna sell em, youll still get top dollar for them.

Just my 2 cents

I agree with that. I don't think you are going to have a problem selling them for good money since the people that have them on their ex's paid BIIIIIG $$$$ for them. At the same time, if you are a little theif it's going to be a lot easier to get a set (and go straight to hell after fuckin with someone's car) since I'm sure the EX owners won't be as likely to make their first mod a good alarm.

the dealers are in it for the $, they don't really care what other people think as long as their wallets are full. whoever buys those 'optional' rims is a moron, for 1350 you can get a set of good locking aftermarket wheels, or just spend 400 for a used set of si rims.

btw, i've never heard of dealers putting on si rims on the new civic's but i do know that they do have optional 15" rims (not si style).
