i have a 97 base, looking for adj cam gears...

does anyone have either skunk2 and aem gears installed? the new aem has a 5-bolt design while the skunk2 has a 6-bolt...it looks like the aem uses a socket to tighten the 6 point hex nut and the skunk2 uses a hex key...not sure though, but can anyone verify this? and also, would the skunk2 bolts wear faster than the aem bolts?

Both good .. 6 bolts is a little bit of over kill .. but its prob. alot cheaper for the Skunk2 .. AEM is always extremely good tho .

I've also heard that STR's cam gears are good, and they might be even a little cheaper, maybe the same as Skunk2.

thanks for the input guys, skunk2 is cheaper from the sites that i've found, and they're sold as a pair as opposed to aem. skunk2 turns out to be about $75 cheaper than AEM...guess i know what i'm getting then. i'll post pics of the install if anyone cares.

my main concern was just how the nuts on the gears would hold up since it looks like you use hex keys for the skunk2...but i wont be constantly adjusting them anyway.

I dont think STRs are 'better' .. but theyr good. And ya prob. significantly. cheaper. Basically in this industry you can tell whats better by the price .. hence .. AEM, Skunk2 then STR ..

note: there is no more STR .. the name is now BDL industries ..
