Springs: Tanabe vs Eibach

I am about to buy springs from the local shop. They are offering me a good deal on Tanabe and Eibach. I have heard that Eibach (sportline) springs give a really hard ride, and I don't know a lot about the Tanabe springs. Some other guy said H&R springs are the best, that Eibach goes bouncy after a while. What I am looking for is an aprox drop of 1.5" and moderate bumps... I want it to be stiff and hold onto the road, but I don't want my girlfriend to complain. (well, it's ok if she complains a little) I am not really looking to get coilovers right now. Also, I am looking for "sport" or "race" springs, not those birght yellow ebay "lowering" springs.

Anyone have these springs? What do you think?

Thanks, -Daft

i have eibach sportlines on stock shox, and i like the ride. i never get any complaints with them. i need to get some new shocks though. i have 17's and i rub in the rear, so i have to ride with a lil neg camber
Thanks, that's helpfull to know, I am also going to stick with the stock shocks for a little while. I was reading these reviews on the net and people were saying that the eibach sportlines would break your back... I saw a lot of good reviews too. I guess that it depends on the set up. Sounds like the springs are one of the better choices. My stock shocks are only 1 1/2 year old, so I don't see why I should not just use them untill they need to be replaced.

JUst my opinion, but I wouldn't ride on your stock shocks with a sportline drop. Your going to blow them, and in the long run it will cost you more money. Save up your money and do it right the first time...Take it from a someone who did it the hard way.
this is why I love SHO...

I was thinking about putting springs on stock shocks. I guess I'll have to wait until I can afford the whole set up.

Thanks guys
Just surfing around some car parts sites, it looks like the way to go is Eibach Sportlines and Koni Sport adjustable shocks. All for about a little over $800. I really like the idea of the adjustable shocks. I just wanted to know... What happens to the stock shocks when you use aftermarket springs to lower the car? As far as I can tell, you are going to wear out the shocks really fast and then have a really bouncy ride untill you get your new shocks. Maybe you will have the shocks go bad, but can that damage other areas of the car? If you do start out with just springs, your major loss is just the extra cost of labor? I really have no idea if that is right or not. Heard a few stories you know.
i had the eibach sportlines, and they are GREAT springs! I would buy em again if i had to do it all over again!
check out carreview.com for reviews on springs. I think the sportlines will give you more than a 1.5 drop. And if i remember right(i may be wrong here so call me on it if so) the sportlines are softer than the pro-kits, as the prokits are aimed at performance vs looks. Of all the reviews of the prokits i don't think i've heard anyone complain about them (on performance shocks!) I'm sure with any factory shock, the springs will eat it up quickly (depends on use though, some people say they have gone a year or so on factory's before blowing).
My 2000 civc has a weaping rear shock, after only 56,000 miles.

Don't forget if you go lower than 1.5 you camber will more likely then not kill you tires after only a few thousand miles. 1.5 seems to be the limit, afterwhich you need a camber kit to get it back into spec. The sportlines will put you at least 2 inches lower.

ok, so i was wrong about the diffrences between the prokit and sportline. but here is a great review of the two springs compared to oe !

Eibach Sportline & KYB AGX are a good combo but its even better with the Bilstein.....I've tried both.

Hey GhostRider, what's up.....
Which Eibach is better, Sportline or the Pro-Kit? Cause my friend wants to sell me his sportline springs for $85.00 and they haven't been on his car for long, but I am poor right now and don't want to waist 85 bucks if the pro kit is better.

for about the same price you could have your self a set of apexi worldsport coilovers, or spend a lil more and get a coil over with adjustable dampening, y would you spend the money on adjustable shocks, when you can't adjust the height? unless you autocross alot there wouldn't be much point...
I have eibach sportline springs and I have a hella smooth ride. Get some koni struts and eibach sportlines and you will be rollin smooth!
