strange shit, companies actually get paid by advertisers (big companies) to provide info for them, like age, race, accupation, where youve been, your favorite sites on the net, your click-through trails, what programs you run,

some even can turn your computer on and use your bandwidth, provided you have a wake-on-Lan network card, which come pretty much as a standard today... i think kazaa does something like this, i remember reading about them doin that,,,

they work with a company called "brilliant digital entertainment" who basically gets paid to spread your info around to whoever will buy it.........

go to ad-aware.com and download ad-aware, uninstall kazaa, run ad-aware, and then re-install "kazaa - Lite" i run it every few days and it always seems to find something....

is this one of the reasons why we get so much spam and stuff like that?

edit
ok i just got adaware and theres no read me so im clueless to what im suppose to do:confused:
ok..... ill make this as easy as possible...

uhh... when you download the program, "save file as" and save it to your desktop, it just makes it easier to find when its done downloading.....

then you will have the single installer on your desktop, double click to install

all the settings should be defaulted in the installer, in other words click "ok" or "yes" for all of the prompts,

after the installer is finished, you will have an icon on your desktop for the program, (if not, run "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft Ad-Aware\Ad-aware.exe")

and the program will open...

click all the boxes to scan, including, deep memory scan, and your c:\ and the memory scan, and the registry scan

it will run through its process, if and when it finds spyware components on your machine, it will list them for you..... what you wanna do is click all of them, and back them up

after you the backup completes, you can remove all the evil components.....

good luck......

i got around 150 with the quick scan. gonna do the deep scan later
good stuff, now watch what you download, dont use kazaa, only kazaa lite....

and those grey boxes that pop up when your surfing the net, dont accept them, unless you know who its coming from and you trust them, and stay away from anything that says GATOR or puts the weather and temp on your toolbar,

anything that pops up and says "security risk" or "your data is at risk" or anything like that stay the fuck away from.....
150 with the quick scan,,

HA HA HA HA HA! holy shit!

the corporate big wigs know your every move!:D
fuck. i restarted and now im getting an error.
i can help if you wanna elaborate a little bit,

ie: whats the error? and when did it happen?
nevermind. apperently lots of people r getting the error. i searched for "CNBabe.dll" and found out how to fix it.

edit: what is CNBabe.dll? and where the hell would i have gotten it? isnt it from Kazaa? i dont have kazaa on my pc, never did.
cnbabe??? maybe a new virus couldnt be though, umm maybe a server file for a trojan... which isnt not good
FUCK! that shits on one of the comps at my work and i cant get rid of it... nothing in any of the startup files points to that location i dont think

cnnbabe.dll right?

whats the fix?
when it says back up files, does it back up your spyware files?
i use WinMX can i have any spyware shit on my comp?? how do i get rid of it? i jsut reinstalled my comp the other day and havnt put winmx on it so is everything (if there is/was anything) gone??
i dont know about winmx, just scan after you install it!

and when you back them up, it does back them up in case one of the entries is a legitemit program etc etc etc and it stops working after you delete it

thanks for the link
if i back up the spyware, will it be deleted after it delete the orginal files automatically?
no thats the point of backing them up, the backup stays in ad-aware, so if you delete them and a program stops working bc it was misread as spyware you can restore it through ad-aware

but after you delete them, even if you have themn backed up, they wont be spying

some companies actually can use your microphone and pc-cam so turn them off!! crazy
