Stalling 2000 Civic Coupe

1980 Views 11 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  iLLeFFeKt CiViC
I have a 2000 Civic DX Coupe, with an AEM cold air intake and AEM underdrive pulleys. I live near Ottawa, Ontario, so it is really cold here.

Has anyone else had similar problems with their civic, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?

Any help is appreciated.

hey man try to give us few more details if you can.
when is it stalling?? when its idling? when you revv it?
when the motor is cold? warm?
thanks
I assume you reset your ECU when you installed the CAI? If not, that'll cause the problem you're talking about. Sounds like the idle is too low. You may want to reset the ECU again.
With obd2 you don't really have to reset it, I mean you can, but it will reset it's self.

When is it stalling out?

Interesting - I hadn't heard that before. Thanks for the info.
the obd II from what i hear is constantly "tuning" itself if you will for better air\fuel ratios and what not. but i still reset my ecu after every mod, just to make sure. you deffinently need to give us more info on your prob before we can even say anything about what may be causing it, it could be a lot of things.
More Info....

Thank-you for all your suggestions, here is more info.

The car stalls when you come to a stop, seems to be when you take your foot off the gas. My fiancee had it stall on the 417 in Ottawa doing 80kph...

I agree...the idle does seem to be too low. Sometimes when you come to a stop, the car will not stall, but the battery light will come on.

Alternator and Battery both tested and fine (battery was just replaced)

ECU was reset when I installed the intake and pulleys, and would have been reset again when they changed the battery.

Thanks again.

its weird you had to change the battery on a car that is barely 2 years old.

time wouldn't matter as much as how many miles.

true but still. besides my civic i have a 1989 toyota celica that's still rocking the stock DieHard battery. car has 159K miles and its still going strong. my civic has about 140k miles and it was changed more than 5 years ago.
