When I turn the key, the engine starts... blahblahblah, but right as the engine fires up, there's some sort of grinding noise... scary... Y'all think it might be the starter motor? I'm not getting knock/detonation or anything, so I dont think it's engine related. Any thoughts?

well yoru warranty is gone after 36,000 miles. most dealers are kool with mods, longs as its not the mod that caused the problem.

is it a whinnins noise? you should check out your alternator. mines died like at 55,000. and check out your starter. if you cant fina anything wrong with it, just have the dealer do a check up one it, and pin point the problem. dont take any chances.

My car actually did that same thing! made that same clicking noise right after the car started. It was the second day I bought my car. only did it once..never did it again. So I guess you shouldn't be to worried. My friend said that I let go of the key too fast, and the car was still trying to fire up.
