I hear they crack pretty easily, but it seems like almost all front bumpers are made of fiberglass..I was looking into the Showoff front bumper http://www.import-trader.com/media/photos/aerokits/CIEL_Civic92.jpg but I don't want to blow money on something that will break soon after..

I know some companies make bumpers that aren't fiberglass, like Wingswest, but im not really into any of their styles.

So does anyone have anything to say on this matter?

It really depends on how the roads are where you drive. If you are on the highway and a flying rock hits your bumper, it's going to leave a lot more damage than it would on a stock bumper, and fiberglass ain't cheap to get repaired. [Poly]Urethane is more flexible and forgiving much like stock bumpers are, and they are also easier to fit as well.

Personally I'd never go with fiberglass for the simple fact that the roads here aren't that great and I see how many people are crusing around with cracks in their shit from flying rocks and bumps in the road.

I've heard urethane bumpers are practically indestructable.

Odd. I've seen videos of cars with urethane bumpers that would bottom out and the bumper would bounce right back.
That's true, but contrary to popular belief, polyurathane is not indestructable. I'm sure you have all seen smashed up garbage cans and Rubber-maid canisters. The ones used on automobiles is just thicker but basically made out of the same material. It's a lot stronger than fiberglass and won't crack as easily (that's why it costs more and more people don't make it) but eventhough I already said fiberglass is more expensive to repair, fiberglass is cheaper to make (pour).

i paticulary think fiberglass bumbers aren't that bad becuse i haeva veil side body kit and many thinsk has hit it but its still ok and fiber glass is strong but the bad part about firbber glass is you don't wanna get in to a car crash with it for you have a 50% more chance if dieing. but evy thing on my car is practicaly fiberglase, faberglas hood, bumbers, and tunk hatch and i'm still fine.

Same here I got a vis racing front bumper and I hit some one pretty hard going down hill and it did have 2 cracks, but it still holds up. I took the bumper off and found that its still in one piece. It only cracked the top layer of fiberglass. But I'm going to reinforce the fiberglass more. I have a friend that does fiberglass and he showed me his mitsubishi eclipse with a blitz kit. And he started pushing on it and some crazy shit. And it held up very well.

Fiberglas is really strong, most peopel asume fibergalss is liek the corvettes untill i got in an accident. I had a buddy club front and it with stood the impact but for the fact yes it did chip in places, its reparable it just i dont feel liek it. Urethane also is very strong, the bad pt is that kits made from that arent that nice looking i feel, since fiberglass is easy to construct nicer shapes from if you know what i mean. After doing a kit on my car i feel its not worth 2g's or whatever, especially since i am selling it...Yes looks nice but ill never make back the money, id suggest go for all lips, which when u sell the car it will look just as nice plus you can have some engine modifications.

I have the Black widow fiberglass front bumper on my car for a little over 3 months now and it's already crackin. I can see some of the original paint on areas where I have scaped. The whole underside of my bumper is really bad. (you think my car is too low  ) and the holes where you mount it to your car broke, so it's barely hanging on the right side.

I have the blue class body kit which is suppose to be quality with many layers of hand laid fiberglass (at least that's what they say) I think they said something like 8 ounces of fiberglass.

You can pick between fiberglass or urethane from ground designs now. They carry many of their popular styles in urethane, but be prepared to pay extra.

Does anyone know if a body shop can fix my bumper? If so how much?
