I was taking a look at my ball joints and tie rod ends when I noticed that the steering rack boot was torn. Only one is torn, the other is intact. I found out that this part is sold for around $12. It looks like it can be replaced without having to remove the steering rack, but I'll have to remove the tie rod end.

I have a Chilton's manual. I figured that if I have the tie rod off, I might as well replace the tie rod boot with a polyurethane one. And, if I rent a tie rod/ball joint removal tool, I might as well replace the ball joint bushing with a polyurethane bushing. Anyway, if anyone has done this, do you have any inside info as to what to watch out for/unforseen problems, things to be careful about.

Also, I noticed that my lower control arm bushing is worn too but I think that the entire lower control arm needs to be removed to replace that bushing. :(
